A DECISION I MADE
I chose to remain silent
And pretend like I didn't hear
All you said in my absence
In a bid to undermine me.
I chose to remain silent
And act like I'm not aware
Of all your evil deeds
Aimed at my downfall.
I chose to remain silent
And pretend like I didn't see
The mocking gestures and expressions
Displayed to inhibit me.
I chose to remain silent
And act like I didn't understand
Your rude jokes and sarcasms
Intentionally said to make my toes curl.
I chose to remain silent
Not because I fear to retaliate,
It is a decision I made
For peace to prevail.
