A Dear Guest in Our Own Skin: A Satirical Rhyme with Message
Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
We just need to be kinder to ourselves. If we treated ourselves the way we treated our best friend, can you imagine how much better off we would be.
-- Meghan Merkle
Have you ever thought of somewhat weird fact
that we are always so nice to all of our guests
with all courtesy, generosity, and friendly tact
while in our skin being little more than pests.
We entertain them, make them laugh with ease
while time spent with them flies with breeze
we even downsize our ego to appease
exposing our jugular in a self-tease.
We are always making sure to apologize
about this or that not turning out the best
being too busy kissing butt as to realize
how we deserve the same as our guest.
At the end we walk them to the front door
concerned they may drift into messy room
again apologizing as to keep high our score
for any possible flaws staying in their zoom.
So why not invite ourselves to be our dear guest
in our own skin -- and maybe in all of life as well
to treat ourselves with a friendliness and the rest
instead of staying imprisoned in that cheap shell.
