I'll Speak Of Love

Author:

Denise is a communication student, a poet and a book lover. She enjoys watching documentaries and film.

This June, two special people in my life will celebrate their wedding anniversary. They've been together for quite a long time but it was just last year that they've decided to tie the knot. As a wedding anniversary gift for them, I'll dedicate this poem for them. It might not be as grand as other gifts they might receive but I wish they'll be happy to read this. Ate and Kuya, happy wedding anniversary to you!

Tonight, I'll speak of love,

the grandest and most magical word you'll ever hear

Love,

is like a never ending song

One longs to hear, touch and keep

You can buy it, when it's sham

and priceless when it's genuine

Love comes your way,

you don't need to search for it

it'll knock on your doorstep when you least expect it

it will find its way to you

Love comes with kindness and compassion,

comforts and warms a person's weary soul

Love gives you a reason to fight your way to the end,

it lends you a hand to hold on to, when you feel weak and helpless

it will not let you succumb

it'll push you to try harder and finally, win!

Oh love is both joyous and sad!

You'll meet a special person that you'll remember for the rest of your life

but in the end, will part ways

Love is immeasurable,

it knows no boundaries and will go wherever it wishes to

until it finds its home

Oh love, the stars that looked so calm in the night sky

reminds me of you,

people say you're always at peace

but yet sometimes, you are in shambles

It's okay, your mess is a fragment of your existence

And it makes you who you are

Oh sweet love,

Nay! bitter-sweet love,

You are what fills my consciousness tonight

and you're alchemy pilots my hands

to write and speak about you

but no, you're not deceitful!

Whatever you say and teach are nothing but the truth

It comes within and lives within

my mind,

my soul,

my heart,

and in my life

Because tonight is the time,

I'll speak of love.

To you who's celebrating your wedding anniversary;

I hope you're all well and happy and are safe from this pandemic.

It is the time of the year that you'll reminisce a memory of you becoming one and partners in life. It is a day you, both will remember for the rest of your life and that I wish you celebrate it with love and affection. I hope you'll give each other a warm hug and a sincere kiss while you utter the words, "I love you" to each other. As you stare at each other's eyes, may you see the spark of love, the pillar of your existence.

I know nothing about your real situation but I hope you remember that whatever life may throw at you, you are together in the fight and you are stronger than you are alone. May it be in sorrow or joy, you share it with each other because you are a portion of each other's lives.

I wish you continue to love each other's imperfections and help each other grow into a better person. Sometimes it's hard but you'll get through it, your love for each other will lend you a hand when you feel weak and lonely. It will give you hope and will remind you that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope and pray you'll be blessed with the things you are praying for, like good health and food. I hope that you will unceasingly and unconditionally love each other through thick and thin. Lean on each other's shoulders when you feel you are in distress. Comfort and each other when in trouble because like what I told you in my poem, love comes with kindness and compassion.

Forgive each other for your mistakes and repent. It might hurt but when you'll work on it, together, it'll just pass by like the ticking of the clock.

Your journey never ends and that I hope you continue to walk through the end of time while holding each other's hands.

Sincerely,

Denise
