A Cat in the Rain - Poem for Cat Lovers

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

Taking home stray cat

Taking home stray cat

Rain poured

Windshield wipers soared

Potholes and splashes

Feet dashes

Umbrellas and coats

Floating paper boats

Tires screeches

An animal it reaches

Stunned by the high beam

Hypnotized in feline dream

Tonight this will not occur

No vehicular murder

Car door opens, then a quick slam

The cat meows, I somehow understand

Fur soaked in rain

But this will never happen again

Now the cat has a new home

To watch the rain by the windows.

Nice to see that poor wet feline rescued and given a new home. Like Flourish, I have six..all strays originating from strays.

What a lovely happily ever after story. I hope he was actually homeless. I have six cats, all ferals or strays from the neighborhood (we call them "volunteers").
