A Case of the Overly Empathetic
Heather has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Moravian College and has been freelance writing for more than 12 years.
A mystery unlike any that Dateline ever handled
A suspect who flew under the radar for years
Without ending up on someone's radar
Either by accident or by design
Hard to say and no one is willing to divulge that secret
At least not on camera or on the record, for that matter
Sherlock Holmes never investigated a case like this one
A person who seemed put together on the outside
Hair perfectly coiffed in the latest style trend
That the stylist touted as the "it" look of 2019
When the truth was murkier than fiction
Beneath the tailored suits and dress pants
Was person striving to win the approval of everyone
Wanted to be accepted and loved by a select few
Could care less what the unwashed masses wanted
Preferred for them to go pound sand than worry about your business
Anxious to cure all that ails my other half
Hug and kiss away his daily stressors or work pressures
Know that's not always going to be possible
But a little comfort goes a long way in this day and age
Hard when differing schedules have plagued us from the beginning
Felt bad that he had to go through his day-to-day business alone
Embraced our time together as treasured moments
Until the next date, or visit, whichever is preferable
Eagerly planning our next low key evening for us
To sit back, relax and enjoy the company
Now, that's an evening worth partaking in.
