A Capture through the Glass and Eyes

Author:
a-capture-through-the-glass-and-eyes

Through the lens is captured

The fond memories of someone

Where shutters open bringing in more light

And make a moment ever so bright.

Amidst the chaos of our busy lives

Seldom do we remember the time gone

Until we come across a snapshot

Calling for a revisit to the bygone days.

Often it seems

We recollect more than we know

The before and after experiences of a snap

Beautifully detailed in front of our eyes.

Through the lens is captured

The fond memories of a day

The everlasting click of events

And an eternal click of joy.

To cherish and to reminisce

Are two things a photograph demands

The thing captured in light

Shouldn’t be a thing settled in dark.

Liz Westwood from UK on August 30, 2020:

You capture the value of photographic memories well in this poem. I wonder if now that we can take numerous digital snaps compared to the old film limitations, whether the value of the photographs have diminished a little. In the days when our photographs were restricted, did our memories have to work harder I wonder?
