Money, Money, Money

They say “money changes everything,” which is true in all instances. Money can erase debt, help you buy the things you think you need or even do good for other people who need it just to survive. It is all in the attitude you have about money, whether to use your money to serve others or as a self service to suit you. still with all things money can do there are many things your money can’t do or buy. Here are 15 things money truly cannot buy as reflected in poetry and Bible verses.

Time

Try to pay

To push time away

To stop time

From rolling

But money will never buy

You any more time

The Bible says in Psalm 49:7-9, “No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him — the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough — that he should live on forever and not see decay.”

No matter how much you try to use your money to erase the effects of time, time still moves on and sooner or later it runs ou.

Happiness

Happiness

Isn’t about money

Nor your toys

It’s about

Sharing what you have with others

Showing them God’s love

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 6:9, “ It is better to be happy with what you have than to always want more and more. Always wanting more and more is useless. It is like trying to catch the wind.”

Money may seem to make you happy but it is usually only a false happiness unless you are using your money to do good which always brings joy.

Inner Peace

You seek peace

An internal peace

In your mind

In your soul

But money can’t buy the peace

Which comes from God alone

The Bible says in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Trying to accumulate money usually does the opposite of giving you peace. It can cause you to be irritable and antsy. Many people fill their days trying to get more money than time with family and friend.

Integrity

A good name

Is hard to come by

It takes time

And effort

But can be easily ruined

By just one wrong deed

One small moment of greed

The Bible says in, Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, Favor is better than silver and gold.”

Money can get you many things in life but it can’t buy you true integrity, only forced acceptance.

Love

The Beatles sang

Money can’t buy you love

Which is true

Money brings

A false love based on true greed

Playing on someone’s needs

The Bible says in Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”

While this verse does not directly talk about love or money it speaks of having a pure heart. A person who seeks true love knows no amount of money can buy love. It is n,y in letting go of the material things and seeing another in the light of God can true love settle into the heart.

Character

Character

And integrity

Walk hand in hand

They aren’t bought

With any amount of money

But are earned over time

The Bible says in, Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is to be more desired than great wealth, Favor is better than silver and gold.” No amount of money can buy a good testimony, and a godly testimony is critical to being able to bear fruit for the kingdom.”

Often people try to throw their money around in order to get themselves a good name but in the end a good heart shines forth but a deceptive heart will be found out.

Manners

Saying please

And giving a thank you

Show you have

Good manners

Part of a good character

Money can’t replace

The Bible says this Proverbs 24:15,"Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of a gift he does not give."

Again this verse does not specifically speak of money. The verse however talks about boasting of gifts which are never given. Manners are a gift we give to others to show our respect for them. There seems to be a correlation in our society of people who suddenly come into money and forgetfulness when it comes to manners. They trod on people who they don't deem worthy of their time and effort. It should not be so. Manners matter.

Health

We can’t stop

Growing old each day

Losing health

Getting sick

A natural part of life

No money can stop

The Bible says in, Proverbs 16:22, "Good sense is a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools is folly."

There is an old saying, "Money changes everything." When you have money you tend to eat out more which in truth is a very bad habit to get into. It creates an unhealthy lifestyle which if you're not careful no amount of money will be able to bring you back to health.

Respect

Throw money

All over and around

Trying to buy

Some respect

But true respect is earned

By all your good deeds

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

Respect is a funny thing to get respect you must first show respect to others. Some people try to buy respect but in the end it is not true respect..

Morals

Good morals

Are truly esteemed

A blessing

But money

Used for evil purposes

Ruins good morals

And money

No matter how much

Can ever

Buy them back

Gotta grasp hold of morals

Protect them all your life

The Bible says in, 1 Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

People are always trying to make money and sometimes it seems so easy to adjust your morals in order

Trust

Trust is earned

Not by slapping down

A few bills

Greasing Palms

Or buying you way around

Try being earnest

To turn heads

People will notice

Know your word

Is your word

What you say is what you do

You can be trusted

The Bible tells us in, "1 Timothy 6:17-19 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed."

Money is not a firm foundation to build trust on. Eventually something will happen and the false trust you have built will crumble and you will be left with a bad reputation which your money will not be able to repair.

Patience

People seek

All their fortunes

To find peace

But money

Causes people to lose all

Of their patience

As they seek

To find more money

The Book of Proverbs tells us in 16:32, “Better to be patient than a warrior, and better to have self-control than to capture a city."

Money does not grant you peace of mind. In the end you'll begin to worry about losing your money or get lost in trying to find ways to make more money. A wise person once told me, "It is better have less money and no worries than to be rich and fret about your money all the time."

Class

A class act

Comes not from money

Truth be told

Money talks

But true class comes from a heart set

On the Word of God

The bible states in Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money."

True class comes not from what you have but how you use what you have to help others. God says you cannot serve Him and money which is so true because one or the other will take control of your heart.

Common Sense

A few bills

Does not common sense make

So to speak

Money talks

Causes a person to throw

Caution to the wind

Do strange things

Become more careless

Well I think

You get it

Gotta have more common sense

Spending your money

The Book of Proverbs contains in a few pages a lifetime of wisdom. In Chapter 2 verse 6 Solomon says this, "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." It does not say money gives us more wisdom or common sense it says God does. There are times when money takes away your wisdom or common sense.

Dignity

People loose

All their dignity

When money

Is involved

Cause money dims your vision

Make the false seem true

So you walk

Down a road so traveled

You don’t know

The real you

Better to have a little

Than get lost in a lot

One last time turning to the Book of Proverbs 29:11 which states this, "A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back"

Money helps you to fully vent your spirit either for good or bad a wise man knows the difference. A foolish man will one day know the way they treated their money was their downfall.

A Final Thought

There you have 15 little spots of wisdom dealing with the aspects of life money can never buy you. Take them to heart as you should do so with all of God's Word. I pray you live a strong and faithful life. Remember as Proverbs 28:26 says, Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered." Learn to walk in wisdom.
