The angels in the bed
Truth indeed is stranger than fiction.
One evening in March of 1984, when my firstborn son was 2 and 1/2 years old he had an interesting encounter. He was playing in his bed and began to laugh so I went over and asked him what was so funny. He told me he was playing with angels. I asked him why angels were in his bed and he said they had come to see Boobie. This was the nickname of my husband's oldest brother who happened to be in the hospital. I neither saw nor sensed anything but I took my son at his word. The next evening around 7:00 PM, to my child began laughing again while in his bed. When I inquired, he replied the same as he had the night before. He said the angels told him they were coming to see Boobie. I shared this with my husband and my grandma and we did not think too much about it but it happened a third time the very next night. The following day Boobie passed away and my son's tale of the angels fascinated everyone who heard it and also gave the family the confirmation that our loved one was in heaven.
When art became real life
In 1995, my second son was three years old. One afternoon he was sitting beside me on the living room couch drawing on a piece of paper. He showed me his finished product which was someone in a bed and three people standing at the foot of the bed with what appeared to be wings. I asked him to explain the picture and he said it was aunt Vivvy. This is how he referred to his great aunt, my husband's aunt Vivian. He went on to tell me that the people at the foot of her bed were angels. Three days later, Aunt Vivian passed away.
I shared this story later while at my mother in law's house and my husband's brother's wife told me something amazing. She said that what my son had drawn on the paper actually took place just before Aunt Vivian died. She said that she and her husband,(my brother in law had been in the room visiting with our aunt when she asked who were those people at the foot of her bed? My sister in law said she responded that there were only the three of them in the room, but Vivian said she could see so many people in white that she did not know how they fit into the hospital room. Just moments later my mother in law's sisters died. We believe the angels had come to escort her to heaven although we cannot prove it.
Do you see what I see?
I've heard it said that when people are about to die, they are caught between this realm and the afterlife. I had an older cousin who was dying from cancer and just before she took her last breath she said she heard the most beautiful music. No one else in the room heard a sound, so it was said that she was hearing a heavenly choir beckoning her home. I've been told countless stories of dying men and women who say they are talking to long-deceased loved ones. Actor Kristoff St. John's ex-wife says she was talking with him on the phone shortly before he died and that he told her he saw their son Julian, who had passed away four years earlier. St. John said Julian was going to take him for a walk and when a friend checked on him not long after he was dead. Did Julian St. John return from the great beyond for his father or was it an angel in the form of Kristoff's son? No one here will ever know for sure.
In 2005 my mother in law had been in the hospital for about a week. One night my husband and I went to visit her and she seemed distracted. Her eyes were glassy and she was looking towards the ceiling, pointing her finger and nodding as if in conversation with someone. She only acknowledged us once and that was when my husband began coughing. She looked over and told him he needed to do something about that cough. She immediately began looking at the ceiling and nodding her head again. My husband and I did not see what she was seeing but we perceived she was communicating with the heavenly realm.
I asked my spouse if we should call his brothers and warn them that their mother was heaven-bound but he said no because not everyone can handle such things. The next evening we got a call to come to the hospital and when we arrived my husband's mother was on a ventilator. A few hours later it was turned off and she was officially pronounced dead. My grandma later said that my mother in law was probably talking to angels. I thought perhaps it could be her son who preceded her in death. Again we will never know for certain.
Sadly I add to this story because my beloved husband of 40 years recently passed away. On Friday evening March 5, I was searching for movies to watch and my daughter suggested Ghost and said she might go home and watch it. I clicked on the movie but cut off the television before the end. I did not desire to see the light appear and Whoopie Goldberg's character Ida Mae, tells Patrick Swayze's character Sam that "they' the angels were waiting for him. I was still praying and fasting that my husband would recover from his illnesses as he always had with prior sickness. I told him and God that heaven could wait because I wanted him to stay with me.
The following afternoon at around 2:30 I was sitting near him and suddenly the room lit up with an unusual brightness and I experienced a sense of peace and calm. My daughter came into the room and I thought she asked me if I felt the peace. She later said she had stated that her dad looked at peace and he did.His complexion had cleared up and he appeared years younger. His gray hair was glistening and he was glowing. I had seen this on others prior to their death and was not ready to let my spouse go. I perceived the light and the peaceful feeling was from the angels sent to take my husband home I told the unseen visitors to go back because heaven could wait. They gave me 24 additional hours as on Sunday afternoon my spouse very quietly went to heaven.

Thank you. Yes it’s a time to look forward too.

A beautiful testimony of angels among us. I have had this experience with loved ones passing and then about eight years ago had my connection to the veil between life and death. I look forward to the final destination in God's timing. There is a comfort in knowing we are protected and will one day be home.

I don't think I ever took the idea of the existence of angels very seriously, but reading your article reminds me that I don't know everything, so I keep an open mind. I enjoyed reading it. Have a nice day.
