Kui Mutua is an online writer whose mantra has always been, I'm not perfect but stories are a little better with a hint of imperfection
I have grown up in a religious home, and as fate would have it, I have grown to seek a relationship with God before anything else.
So recently I had gone to church and the preacher talked about something he had told his son. "Just because you are kind and fair to everyone don't expect life and other people to do the same to you. "
That statement really stuck to me because as a kid I used to wonder, why do bad things happen to good people ?
Ain't that why people give up on religion, they are like I'm doing everything right so why I am paying the cost.
Little by little I got to understand that sadly life isn't balanced. As much we set milestones we want to reach ; like our first kiss, first Friend, first drink, first apartment, first car, first time...etc. life isn't always on our side, it's standing in a corner waiting to attack with overdue bills, depression, anxiety, grief, pain, pandemics you name it, life's got it.
Life isn't balanced.....
Most of us grow up thinking life is a bed of roses, well, life is a bed of roses, but roses have thorns and each prick as painful as it gets, could transform you into you something beautiful. You may not see it right now, but hear a broken girl tell you healing happens. It might not be in a month, or in a year but it will happen.
"This too shall pass" is a really clichee line but I think it has helped to me to go through my toughest moments in life, because it's easy to think if circumstances were different then everything else would be different too, truth is, life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.
life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.
Life was not designed to be easy but your mindset could help you go through the unconquerable, and when given the choice to be right or kind, choose kind, you don't know the battle life has thrown to the other person.
