Two years, the amount of time we adjusted while suffering with the Covid-19 pandemic. During this entire period, we were deprived of the freedom to socialize and gather for events that will involve a lot of people in a certain place. Because of this, activities were either postponed, cancelled or prohibited. With the announcement of the SFC Mindanao Regional Conference 2022, everyone in the community was ecstatic. Finally, after two dreadful years, we were able to come together and unite for the same cause that we’ve always lived for.

Meeting old and new friends from different parts of Mindanao was one of the events highlight. Delegates from Zamboanga, Davao, Iligan, and more came and got together to witness and celebrate God’s goodness. September 24, 2022 is D-day. With the venue held at Xavier Ateneo Sports Centre located at El Camino Reale, Pueblo De Oro, Cagayan de Oro City. The theme "I am Catholic", "My family is a Gift" & "I am a Missionary" led the main purpose and message for this years event and kicked off at exactly 1pm.

A lot of activities were held during the whole duration of the conference. Starting with a holy mass led by Rev. Fr. Anthony Bagtong, who reminded us that the loudest message of God is "His love for the poor". And that we can be instruments of God's great love as we help those who are less fortunate. Becoming true disciples of Christ. Followed by dance production numbers from the YFC and SFC members. Then an inspiring opening worship was led by our Bro. Dexter Montederamos from SFC-Agusan Del Norte, who shared his experience on how he persevered in the mission despite the realities of the pandemic. He reminded us that "more than we thirst for Jesus, He also thirsts for us." For the first session, Bro. Vince Saplot, a SFC missionary shared how we experience Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. He reminded us how important it is for us, as disciples of Christ to not only attend mass, but to live out the teachings of the Catholic Church in our daily lives. He challenges us to be the vessels of God's love and goodness by being faithful Catholics.

After hearing these words of encouragements from the speakers, festival booths opened for all the delegates to experience and enjoy. These booths offer such things like food tasting, story sharing, and games. Completing these festival booths stamps will get you a chance to win the raffle prizes from the event.

"If you truly believed that you are blessed, then you are being made holy, set apart. We are made holy for a purpose." a quote from Bro. Er Abringue, session 2 speaker from SFC-Metro Manila. During his session he told us to be reminded of our calling to be Holy, that we are set apart. That as Catholics, we are to recognize how "God moves through us, in our FAITH, our FAMILIES, and our COMMUNITY." This is our identity as SINGLES FOR CHRIST.

Sis. Dennesse Joy Malilong, from SFC-Davao Del Sur was the first to share her story of how she lives out her faith in attending the Holy Eucharist daily. She shared her struggles and challenges in her prayer. Despite her difficulties, by God's guidance and grace, she persevered in her pursuit of Christ. The next speaker Sis. Anj Villaflor from SFC-Misamis Oriental, talked about her struggles in dealing with her family as she continues to serve. She also emphasized the importance of forgiveness to achieve peace. Because of this, she has come to treasure her family, realizing that they, her family, is and will always be a gift. For the last speaker, Bro. Junmar Agullana from Zamboanga Sibugay, shares his experience as a leader in his province, and that despite his joyful service, he has still experience some struggles in his personal life. But as he continued on, he was reminded of God's faithfulness and love. Leading him to appreciate more the privilege of being a missionary.

Participating in this special religious occasion, made us realize there is a lot more to life than it has to offer. It made us appreciate the smallest things we do not even notice on a regular day-to-day basis. We hope that all the knowledge and wisdom we gained from this momentous event will be cherished deep in our hearts and become a part in our daily lives from now on.
