My Testimony on Hearing God's Voice.
A written form of a testimony I gave while teaching in Lebanon
I grew up in a Christian home and even went to a Christian school but I never believed that there was a god of any kind, I actually hated religion and religious people because I thought they were crazy. I knew the Bible inside and out from school and the pressure of my parents, but it wasn’t until 12th grade where I learned that the thing that’s different about Christianity is the relationship we have with God. I finally understood why we pray, we pray because we are talking to our Heavenly Father and He can talk back to us. I asked God what I should do after I graduated and I heard a small voice in my head saying that I should become a pastor but I said "no, that can’t be God because I’m terrified of public speaking." So I ignored this voice and kept on believing that God wasn’t real. Why would He ask me to do something that I didn't think I could do. I ended up going to college for sound engineering and I was supposed to work at a recording studio and make music. But I felt again that God was telling me to work at a church and again I said "no." One of the student loans I had taken out to pay for my schooling ended up not being accepted so I had to pay the school everything that I had saved to move away. I went back to my home town to try and find a job and the only place that was interested in hiring me was the church I went to. That’s just some of God’s sense of humor. Since then I make my choices based off of that small voice I hear.
This change has been such a blessing in my life as I have been able to follow God's voice to do all sorts of crazy things that I didn't think was possible. God has helped me in so many different ways including feeding me, giving me money when I needed it most, allowing me to share God's word to hundreds of people. I traveled to Germany and Lebanon with no money or clear direction but it was such an amazing time and I will always cherish these memories.
