My Hobby of Writing

My Favourite Hobby

'A blank space in life gives invitation to several unexpected situations.'

Therefore, everyone needs to occupy the leisure period in some constructive work.

The life is too short to think about the unnecessary things which trouble the mind without any reason pushing one in the ditch of depression. Everyone of us needs something to entertain ourselves in every situation.

Each one of us has some favourite pass time in which we get so much engrossed that we forget about the past or future but indulge only in the work that we do at the moment. Some find that peace of mind in dancing, singing, reading, writing, doodling or painting. A few others love to collect stones, leaves, flowers, etc. There are numerous other hobbies that people have, like, gardening, swimming, craft, designing, decorating, carpentry, sewing, sculpting, cycling, trekking, travelling, etc.

After the busy schedule of this hectic life, one needs a break to do what one is interested in. It is one of the essential parts of life to give a stress-free peace of mind while developing the inner self.

I love to write and express myself when I am free. I take out some time from my busy schedule to compose poems and to write stories. I write on any of the current issue or the present feelings of mine which provoke me to give them words of expression. And I get inspirations from the books that I read.

Wordsworth and John Donne are my favourite poets, though it's difficult for me to choose a few from the wonderful poets of every genre starting from Shakespeare to the modern poets. I love to read poems filled with extreme emotions and a few didactic ones. 'If' poem of Rudyard Kipling is my favourite poem. I adore the wise writings of Kahlil Gibran, especially ‘The Prophet’ which is an inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. His every writing is filled with an in-depth of his knowledge and experiences.

'Kabuliwala' of Rabindranath Thakur is another interest of mine which has touched my heart every time I have read it.

The list of the favourites is endless as I find interest in whatever I read and express my ideas on that passionately.

I feel very dull and worthless when I've to wait or have nothing to do at all. I try my best to use every breath of mine in doing something that I really enjoy doing. Along with expressing my views in the form of writing, I also enjoy to paint and listen to music. To write poems, I require some sort of motivation from the people around me, who inspire me to express myself.

I wish to utilize each and every moment of my life and live it to the fullest. After all we have got this life to live only once.

Thank you so much Umesh. I love reading you as well. Got addicted to social media a little bit and had been defending that stating I was not wasting time but reading or viewing something that I loved to and that too in my free time. But realized it lately that I was wasting a lot of my time there without my own knowledge, somewhat unconsciously.

Thank you so much dear. And I am thankful to you for all those lovely collections you have provided. I come time and again to relish the music collection shared by you. Music is life for me too.

I enjoyed this article about writing which is so dear to my heart. I am always busy, and so writing for me is a way to unwind and relax. I can relate to your favourite poets, in particular the works of Kahlil Gibran.

I also write on mental health topics as I feel it helps people to gain an understanding of mental health conditions. Thank you for sharing this inspirational piece Anupam which I enjoyed reading.
