Moral Indignation and Spiritual Growth

Physical and spiritual well being is of great importance to Phyllis. Spirituality is deeply ingrained in Phyllis' life.

Soothing Music to Listen to While Reading

Moral Indignation

It is a moral indignation to see someone publicly and loudly degrading others. A person of this caliber is actually degrading their self and trying to gain a following.

They do not have morals. If they did, they would not be screaming in public that they were "victimized". Some people are life-time victims and when one "victimized" claim is old and has no more interest, they create a new one.

Publicly throwing tantrums and spreading lies causes spiritual harm to the accuser and those who aid their campaign. Spiritual growth is stunted or
completely lacking when one loses control, turns vicious and tries to ruin others. This happens a lot in communities, businesses, neighborhoods and the
general public. It affects all involved.

The spirit and atttude of an entire company is greatly affected when gossip and damaging lies are expressed to anyone who will listen. Many people may
leave a community when such behavior is allowed and supported by others who do not know the truth.

Morals, Values, Ethics

What to do?

What does one do when reading or hearing someone maliciously trashing others? The best thing to do is just don't go there. Or, if you feel the need to know the truth, listen to the other side and ask questions. Rather than making an unqualified decision as to the truth or making unfair judgments against the person being criticized, contact that person and get their opinion also. There are always two sides and always one is right and the other is not.

If the accuser is adamant and the accusations are such that could possibly ruin someone's life, career, or business, it is a mature and wise decision to find out the truth to help prevent damage or to restore a reputation. Good advice is to not be extemporaneous. Do some research and get facts. Make notes to yourself to properly prepare a statement, comment, or speech. Then you can go back to the accuser and say you have done thorough research on the accusations and publicly present the facts.

The worst thing to do is sympathize and support the accuser without knowing the truth. Many people are so eager for juicy gossip that they really don't care who is right - they just want to get in on something new to discuss and the more outrageous the accusations are, the more these type people want to be included in the conversation. Why? Because it is exciting, stirs up emotions, and gets adrenaline flowing like a bizarre circus side show would do. Or, maybe because they are bored and do not have enough good and interesting things in their own life.

Shouting Accuser

Why Would Someone Falsely Accuse Others?

When someone is loudly and constantly accusing others falsely it is because they themselves have something to hide, or is guilty of the very thing they are complaining about. They want to make their self feel better, so they pull down someone else. Often, they just want attention of any kind.

The worst accusers are ones who have created a life of illusions for their self based on lies. They actually believe all their lies and become victims of their own making. They believe everyone else's opinion is wrong. This is the type accuser who very possibly needs psychological help.

If the accuser has something to hide that could damage their own reputation and credibility, they are going to try and discredit one who may know or soon find out their secret. They then work hard and loud to spread lies about the person they believe could harm their reputation. So, they spread as much venom as they can. It is panic that drives them and a mindset of 'damage or be damaged'.

How does one know if the accusations are false? Well that is easy. Who do you trust and do you trust yourself to be wise enough to find out the truth?

What is the purpose of someone publicly whining and accusing others? Just like a politician, a person who broadcasts their accusations are trying to gather people on their side. And we all know politicians do this to get as many votes as possible. The loud false accuser does this so they gain what they perceive is a win.

When one is involved in a community of people who will be in touch with each other on a daily basis, it is very wise to protect your own credibility and reputation by verifying the truth. The day may come when the accuser turns on you with attacks - then who will you have to stand by you? That is something to think about and give serious consideration to.

Ask yourself: Who do I want to follow? Do I really want to follow someone who is rudely attacking others publicly? Or do I want to follow someone who will allow truths to support me?

What is the Effect on Business or Community?

When someone is rudely attacking others and making it so public, the effect it has on the business or community is negative. It affects people's moods and can cause a loss of productivity.

One can ruin the reputation of not only themselves and the person they are attacking, it can give the whole company a bad reputation. Word spreads fast and bad words or accusation spreads even faster.

Rather than using valuable time to create negativity, try speaking about positive issues and things that will cheer people up or boost productivity. Be a part of the idea that the business or community is a great place to be.

Be Positive

A positive place to work.

A positive place to work.

Express Love not Hate

At a time when the whole world is in turmoil, when terrorism, mass murders, and natural disasters are rampant, we need to support each other and express love, not hate.

It is a time to reach out and support each other. We need to make our time valuable and spread peace to overcome all the evil in this world. It is amazing how love and kindness can turn around a whole community for the better and spread to other communities.

Light a lantern and carry it to others (metaphorically) to enlighten and encourage others to speak out against negativity and evil. This world is in great need of harmony and balance in all aspects of life.

Humanity has been hit hard with destruction, devastation and sorrow. It is far better to reach out and help others physically and morally than it is to stand on a podium and complain about personal grievances.

It is our choice. We can choose spiritual growth with peace, love, kindness, harmony and balance or allow negativity and hate to cause destruction. It is our moral obligation to strive for the betterment of all.

Light a Lantern or Candle for Love

Light a candle for love and peace.

Light a candle for love and peace.

Know Yourself

We all want knowledge and wisdom to set us on our path in life. What we have to do is set our priorities, know our right path, value true friends and distance ourselves from false friends who cause discord. And above all be true to yourself.

Hi Ashutosh. Yes, it is bad when false accusations ruin a life, that is sad. Thank you very much for reading and commenting. Take care.

(applause) Bravo, dear Phyllis. Fingers point, rants & accusations remain rampant, all too often. My reaction is usually the same for all of it....just a question, "What's the point?" WHY?

You have made a perfect case for all of us to take heed, not only in this current state of mass crisis & panic, but as a basic rule of human decency in general.

While I find your whole article inspirational, I'm especially impressed with the words that echo my own personal mantra; ".....set our priorities know our right path, value true friends and distance ourselves from false friends who cause discord. And above all be true to yourself." a-MEN, sister of Peace & Truth!.....Hugs, Paula

I would say, now is possibly the worst time where mudslinging and half truths have openly be spewed.

I try and distance myself from it where possible, who needs all that negativeness?

You've given some great advice about how to spot it and how to deal with it.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on September 10, 2017:

I'm afraid this kind of crap happens daily, and I'm also pretty sure it won't end anytime soon. Those who know the accused, and the quality of their character, will not believe the nasty lies....those who know nothing about it should mind their own business without making snap judgments.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on September 10, 2017:

Very well stated and wise advice, Phyllis. I hope many people read this and learn from it.
