Why I Write For Hubpages

As a writer for 12 years, Audrey gives us practical reasons for being a member of Hub Pages.

Writing brings life to the imagination.

Writing brings life to the imagination.

My Reason For Writing

I have one purpose for writing. I write only to serve others. This is my passion. This is why I write. There are many reasons to write for hubpages and we all have our own. For some, it may be a hobby and for others it may be to stretch their talent as a writer.

I have met others who write only to make money. This is sad. While making extra income from writing is always exciting, and I regularly do, It's not my primary reason and never will be.

Learning From Other Fine Writers on Hubpages

Nothing excites me more than to learn something new. With every hub I read by one of Hubpages many remarkable writers, I learn and grow in leaps and bounds. My joy expands, each time I jump to another level of learning. I know I can grow with each hub I read when I have the right attitude. It's all up to me.

If I remain open, humble and teachable, I will continue to excel. If I close myself off to a particular article, well, that's my loss.

So while I'm on the subject I would like to give a special thanks to all of you who have brought me knowledge and helped me to grow as a writer.

The comments I've received since I've been a writer here on hubpages have inspired and encouraged me. It's through inspiration that I do my best work.

There Are Perks Available to Hub Page Writers

One of the perks of belonging to the "hub page family" is the new friends that unexpectedly come your way. Establishing a following, by taking the time to read and comment on other hubs, has introduced me to some very special and wonderful people.

I enjoy participating in forums, reading nominated hubs as well as new and old ones, and every now and then offer an answer posted in the question and answer forum.

I have learned about topics of interest that I would have otherwise not even considered reading about. My knowledge and interests have expanded as never before.

Becoming A Writer Requires Practice

When I review some of my earlier articles, I can truly see how far I've come as a writer. Boy, am I grateful for the chance to re-write and edit some of those articles. It's a great feeling to immediately recognize what needs to be changed to make the earlier article a better read.

There's no way I could have learned how to do this without the Hubpage Community. With the help of The Learning Center, Forums, and stellar articles offered by other writers, I have slowly but surely improved my writing skills.

I've learned the importance of 2 essential rules for improvement as I write::

  1. Write with passion about what you know.
  2. Write something, even just a line, every day.

Being a writer requires practice. I pack up a writing tablet and my trusty pen wherever I go. I never know when I might spring a new idea to write about, and I don't want to lose it.

I've learned that the writer brings a thought to life when he writes. All that happens to us, good and bad, presents excellent possibilities for a story. And we all have a story in us.

Mistakes Writers Make

On a Personal Note

Hubpages has also provided me with a way to deal with the loss of my son. When I lost Todd to cancer, my life as I knew it was over. Then, I found Hubpages, and everything changed. I became a writer. My life took on a new meaning.

As we go through the grieving process of separation from those we love, I have learned that we can gain strength by being involved in writing. A writer uses his own private emotions to create poetry, stories, and articles of interest.

With every article I read, I take away new information that is useful for me in some way. I have become a better writer and a better person.

So, I thank you, Hubpages, for giving me so much. I'm happy to say that I am more fulfilled and educated. I can even be a contributor in my small way. Hubpages has brought out the best in me, and it will in you too.
