Candles at Heart

When I was young I used to believe that candles lit themselves. With the wave of a wand the fire would appear, magically. Now I know that candles light each other, with the touch of a flame the candle ignites. I used to think that people healed themselves, with a little bit of time, and magic, the pain melts away into a puddle of wax on a white countertop. But living through years of pain I now see that it is the fire of another that melts the wax away. I used to try to be the candle that melted itself, needless to say it did not work. I have slowly learned that to be wise is to be the candle that gets its light and shares its fire with those that need it, and that is how I keep my candles lit.
