Adventures at the City Park

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

"I Don't Walk Alone" by Elliot

High 70's today

Today the weather is great. The sun is shining. It’s in the high 70's and warm enough to wear a pair of shorts.
The flowerbed got my attention first but now I have ventured to the city park.

Roadblock sign at entry

We have been told we can walk. There is a trail inside the park, but I am greeted with a sign blocking the entry which states the playground is closed. I drive around it and park my car.
There is only a handful of people here.
One is fishing. One is walking a dog.
There is a family with a mom, dad, and a little child wearing headphones taking a stroll down the path.
There are a couple people sitting in the shelter house and a little girl learning to fly a kite.
Geese are everywhere today but they seem quite content.

Nice to Breathe Fresh Air

Since I worked at home first, the sun is now starting its descent. The wind is a bit gusty so I venture back to car for my windbreaker.
Since it’s late today I am only walking around a small pond and not the complete trail.
It feels nice to breathe fresh air and get away from the homestead for a few moments.

Squirrels and Geese

I enjoy watching the squirrels, and observing the geese.
I wish I knew what the geese were talking about as I listen to their calls.
It seems like one alerts all the others and the chatter begins.
Some fly off in a group. Others sit together, but spread apart, with one in the middle.

Asking God to be With Me

This walk is definitely needed for exercise but it is a bit lonesome being by oneself.
Since I have no one else to talk with I ask for God to be by my side or send me an angel to keep me company.
I spend my walk reflecting on life and it’s beauty as I take pictures.

Super Pink Moon

Today’s venture is just .65 miles but it’s time to head for home.
There is a Super Pink Moon tonight. It is the largest full moon of 2020 and will be at its peak at 10:35 pm EST.
In any case, we all know what they say about full moons.
So I’m not taking any chances with coronavirus on everyone’s mind.
So until next time at the park.

Thank you.

I do love being outside and the exercise can never hurt me.

Glad you enjoyed Elvis.

Stay safe.

What a wonderful way to spend some time, observing nature and getting your exercise too. I love this song, and I love Elvis.

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on April 08, 2020:

It was nice to see others in the distance even if I didn't know them.

But the geese, squirrels, birds and the water gave me a peaceful feeling.

Clive Williams from Jamaica on April 08, 2020:

Very Nice...the presence of life.

Great to know you are reflecting also!

Just maybe this solitude is for a better reason than I realize.

Take care.

Elvis was one of a kind. His music still reaches out to many.

Have a good day.

A beautiful share! I was there with you in your reflections and solitude. Awesome!

Thank you for sharing your day in such a lovely setting Brenda. Getting some fresh air is something we all need and where we can all reflect. Listening to Elvis Presley would keep anyone's spirits up. Take care.

Thank you.

It was a relief to get away from the house for awhile.

I plan on going back when the weather permits because the trail is alot nicer than just walking around my block.

Enjoy your day.

Rosina S Khan on April 07, 2020:

Nice to know about your adventures at the City Park. At least it was a good distraction for a while rather than staying home although you were all by yourself. Hopefully you will enjoy more of these encounters soon. Take care and stay safe, Brenda.
