A Message for the People Who's Trying to Reignite Their Burnt Flame
Living in a fast-paced era could be stressful. It can make you wonder “Am I doing enough?” —and to answer that question, yes, I think you do.
You see, in our society today, wherein lots of people your age can be striving hard for their dreams and aspirations at such a young age may make you feel that you’re not doing enough. It ignites a flame of insecurity, just by thinking how could they get everything they wanted at such a young age while you are still dependent on your parents?
Sometimes we put this indescribable pressure on ourselves because we think that we are not productive enough, or we are not doing enough. Hence, we put in this extra work everyday, making sure that everyday should be productive, and by doing that, we forget that we also have to rest. As a result, we experience burnout.
All excessive things are not good, even productivity. It is not true that in order to get your life put together, you should always be on the go, doing something, or putting in this gigantic amount of pressure on yourself. You need to know that no amount of work can make you feel the way you want to feel. At the end of the day, your body needs rest, and so does your mental health.
There might be times wherein you might think that you are being left behind, but to tell you the truth, no you don’t. And if you insist that you are, what are you willing to do in order to keep up?
In this modern world of ours where every second matters. Everyone’s always busy working on their goals, and there might be some time where you might think that you do not belong in this world. Or that, you are worthless compared to them. But the harsh reality is that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Every person you meet in your lifetime could slip away at some point in your life, and there is nothing you can do but to simply deal with it.
I am not trying to invalidate your feelings but, what I am only trying to say is that, you shouldn’t look at other people’s lives all the time. Maybe you also need to stop and take a rest for a moment, and look back at your own life instead. You’ll be surprised at how far you’ve come. You’ll be able to see the hardships you’ve thought you couldn’t deal with, but you did.
And from there, you’ll have that feeling of relief. “I did that? I overcame that? If I did before, I surely will today.” That sense of motivation will drive you to get out of your bed and do something. Anything. As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.
To mention, there is also this misconception that motivation is the only thing that could drive you to productivity. Because it doesn’t, discipline does. Discipline is something we could practice everyday in order to drag ourselves out of the bed and work. Instead of waiting for motivation to come and do nothing in the process, discipline will help you learn the art of showing up even if you don’t feel like it.
Don’t get me wrong, motivation is good, but not at all times. Let’s put it like this, pause and take a moment to think of your life, and picture yourself as the athlete that maneuvers your life. How does that feel? It may feel uplifting or scary, but I do hope it’s not the latter.
Athletes train themselves everyday, they don’t just come up a race without preparation. Just like life, athletes also have struggles and fears they’ve overcome in order to get to the goal. But still, they manage to show up everyday and train in order to make them feel prepared for their next race. Just like life, we face struggles every now and then, but we continue to rise up and eventually learn how to ride the wave instead of drowning over and over again.
I will not be a hypocrite, there may also be times wherein no matter what motivational quotes or advice someone might give to you. At the moment of your darkness, you will never be able to really absorb it and put it into your life. But you know what? When you’ve fully overcome a struggle you thought you never could get out of, that’s when those quotes come in handy. As they make you realize that, all you needed in order to absorb it was to face your struggles and reflect on your own. Time and space alone will make you realize things that will help you out in your life. Eventually, you’ll learn to master it and think that if you overcame the struggles you once faced, there is nothing that could stop you from overcoming what’s on your plate as of the moment.
We might never know each other personally but, I just want to let you know that you are not being left out or not being as resilient as the others. But rather, you are just living your life according to your own timeline. So, comparing it to others will just be of no use, because everyone’s timeline is different, the same as how our body’s work and mind’s think.
You are doing just fine, really. Do not put too much pressure on yourself, you’ll get there. One step at a time. On your own different timeline. Until then, I hope that you never lose the spark in you.
