Don’t Swim with The Sharks

Song Lyrics
Song Lyrics | Source

I swam for a long time in attempt to escape the hungry shark. I knew I couldn’t keep swimming forever, and I also was fearfully aware of the fact that the shark was much stronger than I was, and would eventually out-swim me, anyway. So, I stopped swimming; and in my own hunger and exhaustion, I did the only thing that I could possibly think to do. I reversed roles.

Flock of Seagulls - I Ran

I Swam

I swam along the azure sea

Surprised, I saw a shark smiling at me

Shark smiling at me

A deadly grin with bloodshot eyes

My whole life flashed hauntingly through me

Flashed hauntingly through me

So I swam

I swam without delay

I just swam

I swam to break-away

Would I be Okay?

Fear and panic disturbed the sea

So a towering wave thrashed down on me

A wave thrashed down on me

Then the shark glided closer in

Burgundy-stained, serrated fangs craved me

Serrated fangs craved me

So I swam

I swam without delay

I just swam

I swam to break-away

Would I be Okay?

Screeched to a halt to think it through

following suit, role-playing, the shark stopped too

Role-playing, the shark stopped too

Screeched to a halt to think again

I realized I would like to try shark-stew

Would like to try shark-stew

The shark swam,

It swam without delay

It just swam

It swam to break-away

The shark swam,

It swam without delay

It just swam

Would it be Okay?

Well, Tamara, it amazes me how you put these things together. Just curious, do you have any lyrics to original music? I loved the pics and glad to know no sharks were hurt in making this masterpiece.

      Hi Flourish:-)

Sharks are important for our ecosystem in various ways, I think. So, they do have their place. LOL..just not in the same vicinity as us..:-)

I think I once heard, that as a rule, sharks are not out to harm or eat human beings; but, they do tend to be attracted to blood- such as if someone has an open wound.

I’ve always enjoyed sharks, although I’ve never wanted to meet one up close. When my daughter was young she wrote her first letter to the President and her Congresspeople advocating for a law to protect sharks. It was passed. Jaws did terrible things for their reputations.

      For you

      Yes, Sharks are scary

      But Love your poetry

      And your poem flows

      In singing rhyme rows

      keep on writing such vows

To heart and mind it glows

      K

      Kashif,

Another day in which you have brought special cheer to my day in your expressive, and very helpful comment!

Sharks are scary...lol, and so are towering waves, and rip currents!

I am thankful to The Good Lord that I was able to write these song lyrics in the safety of my home, rather than having to write them while running (swimming) away from a Great White Shark... :-)

      Hugs,

This is both sweet poetic and scary too. i loved the poetic elements in it, the smooth way it flows, the meter and rhyme along with imagery work awesome. The picture of a shark gave me chills though, lol. It doesnt look like smiling, it looks like eating, those jaws.

Overall, lovely song, perfect balance of flow and rhythm.

      well done, keep writing

      K
