Shannon was born at a very young age and grew up in the 70's. Like most kids, she loves to play with toys, and here are a few of her favs!
I was a Child of the Seventies!
~Updated March 25, 2019~
Hey man! It's groovy!
I was born in 1968, so most of my childhood was in the 70's. I have so many fond memories of the toys I loved playing with back then! I'd like to share some of those memories with you.
So, come on! Ease on down the road!
I loved my Barbies! I must have had about six or so. I know that's not a lot by today's standards, but I was perfectly happy with them! I also had a Ken and a Skipper, but nothing could beat Barbie!
I had some clothes for them, but not a huge amount. I remember my Mom and Grandma making Barbie clothes for me! I still have one of the items from this pattern! And, I have a fancy dress Grandma crocheted for her! If only I hadn't let my girls play with my Barbies, I might still have some of them, too. LOL
We were never able to afford the big Dream House, even though I would have loved to have one. I did get to play with one at a friend's house from time to time, though! Whoever had one of these was considered a very lucky little girl! LOL
Santa did bring me a Barbie Country Living home one year, though, so I was thrilled to have it! It was actually pretty cool! It started out as a square that the sides folded out on, and voila, you had a lovely, three-room house! I loved the "swinging" door between the living room and kitchen! It was also nice that it was portable! I could play in my room, out in the yard, or at a friend's house!
And, lucky me, I also had the Barbie Country Living Camper! It was very cool, too! It had doors that opened, and even a pop-out sleeping area! I spent many a happy hour crawling around and camping with my Barbies! I wish I had kept these things. :-)
These are the Colorforms that I had! I loved Holly Hobbie. Still do! :-) Colorforms were fun toys to take on long car rides.
Did you have Colorforms as a child? What kind did you have?
I always got a brand new box of Crayola Crayons for Easter each year! I loved to color!
My tastes have grown up a little bit, to colored pencils and paint, but I still love to draw and color!
I got Darci one year for Christmas. Santa was so good to me! I really loved her! She seemed prettier than Barbie, and her hair was easier to fix! If I had kept her, instead of letting my little girls play with her, I'd probably still have her. LOL
Dawn was a tiny little doll. There were several styles to choose from, but I had the one with reddish hair. I actually still have her, although, her clothes are long gone. She's been stuck in a make shift dress for many years. LOL
What little girl doesn't love to bake? I was no different! I loved making tiny little cakes and frosting them.
Fashion Plates were lots of fun for me! It was sort of like a make your own coloring book! LOL You could mix and match plates to make hundreds of clothing designs on different models, then color it any way you liked. It kept me busy for many an evening!
What with video games and dvd players, I don't think today's kids could understand just how fun this toy was. LOL I loved putting on little shows all the time!
You couldn't tell it now, but I used to be really good at the Hula Hoop! Maybe I should use one now, I might be able to find my waist! LOL
I LOVED my Inchworm!!!! Bounce up and down, up and down! I am so glad they've brought them back again!
70's Inchworm Commercial!
This was such a fun summertime game! I hate that people got hurt with it, but I would love to have them again!
Ahhhhh..... I built so many cabins! LOL Yeah, that's it.... just cabins... Well, they are LOGS after all. ;-)
Lite Brite was one of my favorite toys! And now, it's one of my grandkids favorites!
Oh my goodness!!!! Me and my girlfriends laughed till it hurt when we did the Mad Libs!!!
Who didn't have Sea Monkeys??? They were so cute! I actually pictured them being like little people, like it is in the advertisement. LOL
Ugh!!! I used to play Simon for HOURS!! LOL I didn't have close siblings, so I played by myself a lot of the time, and Simon was a great game to play alone or with friends! It was one of my very favorites!
Aren't these little dolls sweet? I loved them so much, and I still have the baby!
Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!
I'd love to hear from you! Tell me what kind of toys you remember from your childhood!
Leave a Note!

Oh, how I loved the Sunshine family, and the Weebles and their house! I spent hours with those! The Simon game was fun, too! Thanks for sharing these awesome memories! I’ve often said no one was more blessed than me during childhood! The past 25 years have been rough for me, but remembering these days makes it better.

Thank you so much for the memories. Life was so different then, so much hope, the world seemed young, anything was possible.
