Every person has his or her way of enjoying life. When I say, "doing yoga regularly can be joyous", you probably won’t agree. But, young and cheerful Shreyada finds contentment in practicing yoga daily.
Shreyada carried a very casual attitude towards life just like almost all teenagers until her 10th standard. With amazing grades, friends, and parties, her life was sorted and carefree. She was dreaming to step towards her journey of becoming a doctor, but her family did not allow her to take admission to her desired college. So, she ended up enrolling in a state board junior college. The beginning was not quite good for her. With a packed schedule from five in the morning to ten at night, it was very arduous for her to manage her sleep and studies together.
Extra busy schedule, the pressure of exams every weekend and on top of that class ranking gave her chills. Despite hard work, her marks did not reflect her potential and it led to psychological exertion. Driving at a crazy speed, yelling at random people and frequent accidents became a part of her life. Every night she would sleep with hope for miserable days to pass away and everything to fall in the right place. One thing that she did without fail, was praying and very well knew that giving up was not an option. She would complain, cry and throw tantrums at times but never lost hope. Being stubborn and adamant that she was, she took a year off to prepare for the entrance exam once again. Throughout the two years, she was upset and frustrated with her studies, performance, and life.
All of this changed when a few representatives from The Art Of Living visited her coaching center. Shreya wasn’t interested in their introductory talks at first, but something struck her hard when the representatives started singing a bhajan. She felt positive and a piece of her was relaxed. Later, she dug out some information through the internet about The Art Of Living and also Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. After long research, she was quite interested and satisfied with their profile. Soon, Yoga became a part of her routine. She started with Sudarshan Kriya a breathing technique that has been researched upon for years by doctors and independent studies including Harvard University. Regular practice of the same technique and chanting mantras helped her let go of all the traumatic experiences.
Yoga changed her opinions and today she believes that there is always positive energy that guides you towards the new and open doors, positive energy that helps you to keep growing no matter what. Ever since Shreyada started practicing yoga, she realized that yoga is also a form of meditation that can do wonders. She could not clear the entrance exam, but she accepted the fall and moved on this time. She is currently pursuing BSc. (H) Biotechnology from Amity University Rajasthan. Today, she is a certified yoga trainer.
Practicing yoga and meditation regularly, helping people through social services and teaching yoga to her fellow mates is Shreyada’s way of enjoying life. Yoga and meditation became her way to celebrate life and this might help you out too.
