Our Love Story!
When you think you will never met “the one” and life smiles on you and you find a love that grows deeper every day!
I married when I was 19 years old and just a dumb little country girl. I grew up in a small rural town in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
I graduated in 1968 and set off to go to cosmetology school in Austin, Texas.
In March of 1969, I married and had a baby boy in 1972. It was a very rocky marriage and ended in divorce in 1973.
I moved back to my hometown and continued to raise my son who at that time was 16 months old.
I had maybe two or three horrible dates in 17 years! Not a lot of good guys out there to pick from in a small rural town. My sister tried to get me go places to meet guys but I told her if God had a mate for me he could bring him to me!
In May of 1989, a friend of mine called me and wanted to fix me up on a blind date with one of her daughter's girlfriend's dad. The girls had tickets to a Spanish Club fundraiser meal to sell and told her dad they would get him a date if he bought their last two tickets. So being the sweet dad he was he agreed!
Now it took a little more talking to get me convinced to agree to this scary arrangement!
I finally agreed to go! Everyone in our small town had never seen me on a date so it made quite a stir! I felt like everyone was watching me, they probably were, and I was nervous to have to eat in front of him, I can be kind of a clutz sometime! Well needless to say I survived the meal.
He was a very handsome and nice man, we did have a second date which he told me he was never getting married again. Five months later he ask me to marry him. We married on December 2, 1989, and had a beautiful Christmas theme wedding. He had a 16-year old daughter and I had A 17-year old son.
So miracles still do happen, if you are single and would like to find "the one" don't give up! We have now been married 28 years and more in love than when we first married!
We have seven grandchildren and two nieces that are our grandchildren too!
We are now retired and finding out what growing old is all about and living on a fixed income! Life is good, we have two married grandchildren and one getting married in March.
We have forged ahead through the death of my son, my husband having cancer, has a broken neck in a scooter accident and a five bypass heart surgery. We both have a strong faith in God, and He helps us weather the storms of life!
