Till death do us part

Times Have Changed

It‘s 2017, and being married by the age of 20 isn’t as normal as it used to be. It was until the 1980s the range for males and females was under 24 to marry. People are waiting even longer to get hitched now. My grandparents were married by the time my grandma was 16. In today’s time that just doesn’t happen anymore. But when you find that special someone in your life do you have to wait around till you’re the “appropriate“ age to marry each other? Marrying at 20 years old, in some cases, isn’t the worst idea to have. Even though some men and women that age have different plans doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong. You just want to do all your future plans with that someone by your side, and that’s why I chose to marry young. I found someone I enjoy trying new things with. Someone that I love making new memories with, and who I can share my old memories. I’m glad I chose this life when I did.

My husband & I

My Short Story

My love story with getting married before I graduated high school. I am 20 years old and my darling husband is 21. My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years, but we have been together for 5 years altogether. We are high school sweethearts and that’s not the best part. Every couple has some rough patches and boy did we. We had almost the same schedules our junior and senior year so we wmere practically always together. Which was a reoccurring challenge but some days a blessing. High school was hard on both of us in many different ways. We stuck out our differences though and made it out alive and still together. Our senior year, in 2014, I got the privilege to say, ”We’re pregnant!”. I believe that was one of our biggest obstacle we had to face before graduation. Finally, we decided it was the best thing that could’ve happened to us at that time. My husband had lived at my dads with me for a couple of months before we got ourselves our own apartment before graduation. In March of 2015 we tied the knot in front of our family and a few friends. In June of that year we had our beautiful baby girl. Before settling down, I did have my fun teenage days and created memories that I can’t even remember. Getting married didn’t stop me. I’ve adventured more than I have before. I’ve learned so much more about myself and about life. I also have my beautiful babies. I’m not sure where I’d be if I didn’t marry my husband when I did. I mean I could be rich by now, but probably not as happy as I am with how my life turned out.

It’s Not So Bad Afterall

What one might consider to be “too young” someone else could think perfect. Every person has plans for their life. They have goals to reach. But every person also has their own time to do these things. When two people come together and get married they have to sacrifice some of their time and maybe even some goals, yet they can still accomplish everything they have set their mind to before they possibly even got together. Some people thought we was too young to get married, and some people just did not like the idea at all. It was my time and my goals to have a family so I did it. We still both graduated high school together, and have our own goals for furthering our education on our own time. I’m glad I have someone by my side to watch me succeed and fulfill my goals. Everything happens for a reason, right?
