You Are a Diamond With Outstanding Abilities and Strengths

Audrey's desire to help others to respect and understand themselves led her to the study of psychology at UCLA.

You Are The Only One Of It's Kind

You are a diamond. Allow your sparkle to shine and light the way.

You are a diamond. Allow your sparkle to shine and light the way.

You Are a Diamond, Unique and Brilliant

Just think - you are the only one of its kind. You are without an equal or equivalent. You are unparalleled! If knowing this isn't enough to get your motor revved up I don't know what will.

Regardless of the kind of hand life deals to you, obstacles of unimaginable proportion can make you stronger and increase your compassion and understanding. With the knowledge that you are not simply unique but that you are a diamond of uniqueness with abilities and strengths you never discover and never use in a lifetime.

You are not defective and you are not flawed. You are a masterpiece. You are not meant to be like someone else. You are meant to be different and this difference is a gift to you and you only.

It's time for you to unveil your uniqueness.

Unveil Your Uniqueness

You are unique.

You are unique.

You Are Enough

You are a unique creation and your abilities are also unique. What does it mean to be unique? Let's start out by reading what Mr.Webster's definition of this word is. He simply defines unique as "being the only one." Amazing! There is only one of you and only one of me.

For the next few minutes let's expand on the word unique. What are some of the ways we define our uniqueness? How do we use it - or do we? Can we as individuals change our own lives as we begin to recognize the power and magnificence of being unique?

"The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique."

Walt Disney

How To Discover Your Unique Abilities

A unique person is an opposite of average, dull, or boring, There is no one like you. You are one-of-a-kind. You are an original. You are absolutely unmatched. You are exclusive.

To be unique you must be yourself and not someone's idea of what you should be. You can't be yourself if you don't like yourself so maybe it's time to work on some self-love.

"I believe in me. I am a diamond already and it's time to shine."

Repeat the above quote three times. Each time you repeat the quote you'll begin to feel stronger about the message.

Liking yourself is the power tool for discovering and then using your own special abilities.

"But I don't have any unique abilities," you say." Ah, but you certainly do. Those abilities are there deep inside of you and waiting to be discovered. Don't try too hard to find these gifts. Shhhhhhhhhh...be quiet and listen. They will appear.

Here is an exercise I'd like you to try. Visualize a large diamond buried deep within a cave (you.). Diamonds are found in mines, craters, and caves. In this case, you are the mine or cave and a diamond is resting deep within you.

Unless you put forth effort and determination, along with a strong desire, your diamond will simply remain undiscovered and useless. You must put forth action.

Just like mining for diamonds, if you keep trying and dig deep enough you will begin to see a faint sparkle. Is that a diamond? Could it be? You'll never know unless you dig deeper and deeper. Your abilities are like diamonds. Once you recognize that what you have is an ability, the next step is to dust it off and polish it over and over again.

As you continue to polish your diamond the sparkle will ignite and blaze brighter and brighter. It will become an obvious part of you and even others will see it. This is how you let your light shine and glorify the one who gave you these abilities.

Do You Consider Your Own Needs?

You Have Endless Abilities and T..alents

You have endless abilities waiting to be discovered. Find your passion to find your talent.

You have endless abilities waiting to be discovered. Find your passion to find your talent.

Say Goodbye To Fear

I have always appreciated Emerson's quote about fear: "Fear is a cruel thief who comes in the night and robs us of success just when it's within our reach" How terribly true this is. And because it is, we must practice how to conquer fear.

If our lives are bound by fear we cease to grow and become all that we could be. We are stuck in our comfort zone and never take risks. We dare not change and yet without change, there is no growth.

Facing our fears takes courage. We have to be willing to let go of the familiar to be courageous. Expanding on our level of bravery creates greatness. Greatness and bravery will overcome fear.

Develop a high level of faith in yourself. This will be the foundation for overcoming fear.

Learn to identify your fears. The things that scare us as children may still be lurking somewhere. If you can identify those fears, you will find it easier to release them.

The biggest fear most of us have is the fear of the unknown.

What is most important to you?

6 Qualities (Tools) To Bring About Change

In order to recognize our abilities, it helps to possess certain qualities. Think of these qualities as tools. Let's take a look at six of the most effective, strong qualities:

  • Being positive. Are you a half empty or half full kind of person? If you see the glass as half full you are sure to find more unique qualities within you. The potential within you is limitless and for the most part untapped.
  • Believe in yourself. Your beliefs control everything you do. If you expect to fail you most probably will which is one important reason we need support from others. Believe in your mission in life. Believe that you can accomplish your goals Whatever abilities and talents you have will not be discovered and reach the highest level unless you believe in yourself.
  • Keep good company. Surround yourself with people you admire. Negative, critical people drain your energy and add a darkness to your life. Choose to spend time with those that see the potential in you and speak highly of you.
  • Don't compare yourself with others. Instead, focus on your own talents and abilities and make the most of those. You may not have what they have but neither do they have what you have. You don't need a bigger diamond. Just keep polishing the one you have.
  • Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. If writing is your strength, then work on it continually. Study everything you can about writing. Never become complacent. We never stand still. We either move forward or we move backward. Fretting about your weaknesses will only prevent you from doing your best with the strengths you have.
  • Use failure as a motivating force. Being determined is the best way to overcome failure. Failure is just a word. It is your thinking that labels it as "bad." Be resilient and able to bounce back regardless of how you feel. Learn how to profit from your losses.

Believe in Yourself

Final Words of Wisdom

William Shakespeare said it best: "To Thine Own Self-be True". This is the path to self-discovery.

You can be the difference that is needed in the world. Set a new standard. Dare to be different. Dare to be you. Others don't determine what your destiny will be. They haven't a clue about what's in you. Don't allow anyone to keep you from being who you are. You don't need anyone's approval or disapproval.

The choices you make every hour of every day will determine your individual results as far as success goes Here are a few suggestions to consider:

  • Learn to say no when your plate is piled high and you're trying to meet deadlines. It isn't selfish to do this.
  • When you do say yes, then live up to your promise. Make integrity your goal at all times. Be trustworthy and dependable.
  • Stand out in the crowd by being who you truly are. We are all wired a little bit different but high values remain the same. Break free of daily bombardment and influences that leave you teetering on the edge.
  • Find your kind spot and reach out to help others. This is the best part of you. This is the truest and most precious part of you. This is who you truly are.
  • You are a diamond with unique abilities. Remember this every time you feel unworthy, unloved, alone, unappreciated and in emotional or physical pain.
  • Somewhere at sometime someone needs you. Search for opportunities to give the best part of yourself to others.
  • Love yourself. Do something kind for just you every day.

Start dreaming again. Start believing again and start hoping again.

Hi Marlene

I'd love to hear your voice. Is there a video available? Thank you for finding this hub inspirational. Have a joyful day!

Marlene Bertrand from USA on August 03, 2016:

Very inspirational. Your title, "You are Enough" is a message everyone should take to heart. Oh, and I love the song, "If You Believe." In fact, I sing this song as part of my vocal warm-up routine.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on June 01, 2016:

Hi Sandy

Your comments are true. Only recently I myself said "no." I got caught up in using all my energy to please others. I think loving ourselves is an on-going process. It really felt goo to set boundaries and say "no." Thanks for being here.

Sandy Mertens from Frozen Tundra on June 01, 2016:

Inspirational hub. We are all diamonds. Not all of us have learned to love ourselves and what we are capable of.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on April 29, 2016:

Yes, the media is big on emphasizing perfection - perfect image, perfect house, car. Most expectations are misplaced - who could ever live up to them?

Thanks for making a trip to my area of 'hub land.'

jtrader on April 29, 2016:

Everyone has unique abilities. Unfortunately, sometimes people do go through life mistakenly feeling that they are not valuable. Sometimes society places emphasis on false things.

Inspiring hub!

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on April 20, 2016:

Hello Reynold Jay

Great to see you here. I enjoyed your comments very much. You are kind as well as supportive. It's people like you that keep me writing here on Hub Pages. I'll be reading your "Born to Be Rich" and am excited about learning from you.

Again, thanks for your encouragement!

Audrey

Reynold Jay from Saginaw, Michigan on April 19, 2016:

Your Hub reminds me of my own "Born to Be Rich" that encourages everyone to do their very best. In that I have read only this one HUB I don't know if you have written books. This has the makings of a book here. When I reached the VOTE, I saw that I lead a very balanced life in a heat beat. All the essentials of the things that my up my life are there, none being more important than another and each one at the top of the list. It was interesting to see how the vote was slanted and not surprising in that HUBBERS are creative individuals and will tend toward different goals than others might. When I see that HOME is at the bottom of the list, I realize how fortunate I am to live in a fine home ( in my senior years) simply because all the other aspects were important all my life. I now live a wonderful home and can enjoy the fruits of my labors. Well done and it is easy to see why you have a HIGH SCORE. I see comments from some of my favorite people and that makes me happy to see them here. Well done!! If Don reads this...Hi Don!

You have graced my hub with your presence my friend. Thanks for taking the time to be here. Blessings to you.

Thank you for this encouraging message :) Keep being a blessing :)

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on January 22, 2016:

Dream On -

Your comments are both touching and inspiring. You have a beautiful gift of understanding others. Sometimes folks just seem to get caught up in materializm and forget that love is found only in the act of loving others. Only when we serve our fellowman do we discover our own love. We are filled with the capacity to love beyond our wildest dreams.

To love and be grateful for who we are builds our capacity to reach out and love others - good or bad. And yes, life is simple. Not easy...but learning to live with simplicity allows us the freedom to stay focused on a peaceful path.

May you continue to walk in inspiration, peace, hope, joy and love.

Your friend,

Audrey

DREAM ON on January 20, 2016:

I have many thoughts on my mind at any one time. When I read your hub I see stars. The same stars I dream about every night. They are loving people for who they are in the inside and unfortunately today is materialistic. What amazing beauty we all hold. I love and am speechless when people care so deeply for each other nothing else matters.Your hub shares all the greatness and a unique estacy. What happier feeling than feeling loved by ourself. For all our accomplishments but even better for all our mistakes. I am a man of few words and if you could see into my mind you would see the biggest, whitest, brightest, purest cloud of white filled with delight. Showering the world with love. I think life is that simple. Then reality changes things. Why I don't know. You will continue to be my inspiration and above all a kind and generous friend. Thank you from my heart to my words.

Your mama...one very wise lady. Is it any wonder you are filled with unsurpassed wisdom yourself?

Honoring our uniqueness and our qualities is the only way we can be ourselves.

Love your comments Maria and I thank you for voting Up and across and for sharing.

Dear Paula,

Being healthy is absolutely #1 because as you say, without good health we cannot enjoy life. I experienced this a few years ago and know this to be true.

You are a natural 'sparkler.' You absolutely light up all of Hub Pages! And as far as being unique...you are the top of the heap.

Thank you, dear Paula and keep on shining!

Hugs,

There are sparkling diamonds amongst us......we all may have a chance to sparkle...Peace, Paula UP+++

"Diamond girl....YOU sure do shine...!!"

Thanks for getting me singing, smiling and learning all in one fell swoop, dear Audrey. This article sure is evergreen...because no matter 'how late a gal is to the party', there is wisdom and insight to be gained.

You remind me of my Momma telling us 'how very boring the world would be if we were all the same'...as her gentle way of teaching us to 'be ourselves'.

Beautiful, my friend...Voting UP and UABI and sharing. Love, Maria

I'm not familiar with this. Thanks.

Hi Audrey -I came back to read this lovely story again and to post it to Facebook and to share it. The message in this hub is so great for self esteem and so truthful. We are what we believe. The other fascination are the vibrant photos that back up the story. Just looking at the pictures makes a person feel inspired and ready to embark on a great journey of success. You are a great lady. Blessings. Audrey.

kidscraft - I want to thank you for your fan mail. This is how I found you. I just treated myself to your fantastic hub on "The Owl," and enjoyed it immensely.

Your kind comments have given me a "warm, fuzzy, feeling.:) " I agree with you 100% about how children should be taught this message as soon as they start school

It was, in fact, my kindergarten teacher who, through her love for me, gave me the first love that I so longed for and needed. I will never forget "Miss Butterfield."

Keep shining, my hub friend. You are a precious diamond. ~ Audrey

What an amazing and inspiring hub! I will come back to this one as I want to do some meditation.

"Discover the Real, Unique You, A Diamond With Outstanding Abilities" should be taught as soon as children start school. I remember that I was going through a rough times with my parents when I was an adolescent and it's the time and the kind words of one teacher that made a difference in my life. I suppose he was able to see something shining a little bit :-)

Thank you very much for this awesome and beautiful hub!

Hi Audrey - I love the photos in this hub along with the wonderful message. It is so easy to find fault sand beat yourself up over them. It is a brilliant idea to think we have a diamond within us that will shine forever. That would make anyone feel good. Your comparison immediately makes us think of the positive qualities within us. I am going to tell my spouse that I am a diamond. Sometimes I tell him I am amazing to get a compliment. Seriously, we need to be diamonds, as we all have good qualities that outway negative qualities. Thanks for sharing this lovely piece. From another Audrey

We all have gifts and talents but sadly the world does not always appreciate them and we begin to believe the lie that we have no talent. Don't believe the lie!

just-about - I'm sorry to hear that your daughter was so ill. Glad she's recovered. Unfortunately for we mothers, we don't always recover as well or as soon as the children do. It takes so much out of us.

Your diamond is shining brightly and glad you are now moving forward. Good for you! Hugs.

just-about on July 18, 2013:

Thank you so much - I've just had a few difficult weeks during which my daughter was very ill. I couldn't "do" much for her and it left me feeling deflated about myself. She recovered and is getting on with her life - I wasn't. But now I shall polish my diamond and move forward.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on June 10, 2013:

suzettenaples - Thank you for finding my hub uplifting! It's really amazing when you think about all the people on our planet and yet we are all unique and different. We must concentrate on our own diamond and not the differences. So glad you came by!
