Who Loves Me?

Kari spends much of her time thinking about the meaning of life and time. She has concluded love is the meaning and time doesn't exist.

Who Loves Me?

Did you ever wonder, "who loves me?" Do you have an answer? It may be family, friends, or a pet. But have you ever thought of God as the answer? God loves you every day and every moment. He loves you when you are good and he loves you when you are bad. God's love is truly unconditional.

I know, I know, people have told you that you need to do several things for God's love. That involves being saved, which is God's gift to us and only really requires one thing. The truth is God already loves you, you don't have to do anything. God loves you no matter what.

"And we have come to know and have believed the love God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." --1 John 4:16

"And we have come to know and have believed the love God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." --1 John 4:16

God is Love

I don't think of God as some old man with a beard, sitting on a throne and judging us. I think of God as being everywhere and being in everything. Of course, God could present himself as an old man. Or as an elderly black woman, as he does in the book, "The Shack".

I believe that God is love. And this love is what connects us all. Love connects us to each other, to the world, to all of nature, and to the universe. We are all connected with love, and that love is God.

When we live loving others, we live with God. Believe it or not, God is love, and loves and lives in all of us. We do not have to do anything for God's love, it is already present. God loves you no matter what.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity; to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity; to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

God Has Plans

The world may seem to be chaos. And much of your life may seem chaotic. But did you know, God has plans for us all. Plans of goodness and fortune. Sometimes we forget that we are the manufacturer of our future. If we look for the goodness we will find some. Only you can control what you look at. Only you can control where your focus is. If you focus on bad, you will see bad. If you focus on good, you will see good. God wants us all to be happy by focusing on the good, not the bad.

God loves us and we are precious to him. We do not have to do anything for God's love. It is already there. He doesn't care if you focus on good or on bad, God loves you either way. He doesn't care if you don't believe in Him, He loves (and believes in) you anyway. God loves you no matter what.

Since you are precious in My sight, since you are honored and I love you . . . Do not fear for I am with you." -- God speaking in Isiah 43:4-5

Since you are precious in My sight, since you are honored and I love you . . . Do not fear for I am with you." -- God speaking in Isiah 43:4-5

You Are Precious

Did you know that God thinks you are precious? Just like you are, God already loves you. You have never done something so bad that God does not love you. King David had a man killed and God forgave him. God is love. Everyday we make a choice about how we will live. Everyday is a new day. We choose what to focus on. We choose how to feel.

God wants you to feel love, to focus on love, to live with love. Does it help to know someone loves you and thinks you are precious? Will it help to know that there are people who want to help?

Whether yo are will to accept this love or not, God still loves you. God loves you no matter what.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude. -- 1 Timothy 4:4

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude. -- 1 Timothy 4:4

You Are Good

Everything created by God is good. You are created by God. Therefore you are good. We all do things in life that are bad. But that is not who we are. We are good people doing bad things. The action is bad, but that doesn't mean you are bad.

It is helpful to separate the actions from yourself. Know that you are good. Everyday you decide what to do. If you decide to do bad things again today, tomorrow is another day. I wish you were aware that when you hurt others, you are really hurting yourself.

We are not here to judge. We are here to love. All people are different. All people have different beliefs. This is their choice, not one we can choose for them. Allow them their choice, just as they allow you your choice.

If you can't let them have their choice, God loves you anyway. God loves you no matter what.

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it [perfection] yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead -- Paul writting in Philippians 3:13

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it [perfection] yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead -- Paul writting in Philippians 3:13

Let Go Of The Past

We need to learn to let go of the past. The past is done, there is no changing it. We can learn lessons from it, but that is all the good it has. The lessons we learn from the past are made to teach us how to act now, in the present.

Maybe you cannot forget the past. If so, it is important that you do not define yourself based on your past. Every day is a new day. A new day to redefine ourselves and our lives. Look to the future.

No matter what it is that you cannot forget, God loves you anyway. God loves you no matter what.

But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt: -- Romans 14:10

But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt: -- Romans 14:10

Do Not Judge

Just as we should not judge ourselves based on our past, so we should not judge others based on their past. We are not here to judge. We are here to love.

We can never know what has happened in someone's life to make them act and think as they do. We cannot judge them without knowing their whole story. Every life carries its own story.

Do not have contempt for what you do not understand. It may not be the way you would do things, but we all have the right to live as we see fit. It does not help to argue your way as better. The problem is that what is good for one is not good for all.

But God loves you whether you feel contempt or not. God loves you no matter what.

For the whole law can be fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." -- Galatians 5:14

For the whole law can be fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." -- Galatians 5:14

Love Each Other

We are put on the earth for one main purpose. This is to love each other. We also have other purposes, our work per se, but our main reason is love. We are to love and take care of each other.

How different life would be if we just loved others. It would make a whole different world. I do believe that every one has their good points. It's just harder to see in some. But, we should be able to find something to love or respect about every one else.

If you can respect and love others that is wonderful, but if you can't remember God still loves you. God loves you no matter what.

Wherefore, accept one another, just as Christ accepted us to the glory of God. --Romans 15:7

Wherefore, accept one another, just as Christ accepted us to the glory of God. --Romans 15:7

Accept Each Other

We need to be able to accept each other. "Acceptance" is very different from "tolerance". Acceptence means to believe or recognize something to be valid or correct. You do not necessarily have to agree with something in order to acknowledge it to be reasonable. Tolerance is enduring something and controlling yourself in a difficult situation.

To me it seems tolerance is being on the edge of violence, while acceptance is being on the edge of understanding. Understanding leads to love. We do not have to believe what another person believes, we just need to accept it is valid for them.

Whether we practice tolerance or acceptance, God loves us. God loves you no matter what.

" . . . and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. -- Paul speaking in Acts 10:28

" . . . and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. -- Paul speaking in Acts 10:28

Do Not Assume They Are Different

Often times we assume someone who lives differently than us, is different to us. But how are they different. They still need air to breath and food to eat. They still love and hurt. They still long for understanding and peace.

Maybe how they think is different than how we think, but that does not make a giant difference. If we were to talk to them, we may find more in common than not. We, as humans, become nervous about people different than us. But, did you know, those different people are nervous about us?

Nervous or not, God still loves us. If you cannot find any common ground, God still loves you. God loves you no matter what.

For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you saying, "You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land -- Deuteronomy 15:11

Help Others

We are here to love each other. Part of loving is helping. God loves us unconditionally. He loves us if we help others or if we do not. But, it feels good to help.

I love to help. It feels good. People acknowledge your value when you help. Is this called validation? Helping feels good because it is one of the human being's main purposes in life. Helping feels good whether the person helped knows it was you or does not know who helped.

Just because God wants us to help each other does not mean that he loves us more or less if we do or don't. God just wants us to feel good. He wants us to be happy. Helping others is a great way to feel happy.

God loves you no matter what.

"But go and learn what this means, I desire compassion, not sacrifice, for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Jesus speaking in Matthew 9:13

"But go and learn what this means, I desire compassion, not sacrifice, for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." Jesus speaking in Matthew 9:13

Compassion

Compassion is being concerned with the suffering or misfortunes of others. This is one of the main ideals that God wants for us. Through compassion we can understand another. Or, maybe not understand, but try to.

Often times Christians will stick together and not have much to do with others who are not Christian. Sometimes it is hard to have compassion for people who are different. Sometimes we may think that these someones "brought it onto themselves" and, as such, do not deserve compassion.

When we think like this, we are judging and holding others in contempt. God did not send Jesus (God in the flesh) to save the righteous, he sent Jesus to save the sinners. God wants us to help others. He wants us to help the drug addicts, the homeless and the criminals. Not an easy thing to do.

But, because God loves us all, he wants us to love us all. We are each one precious in God's sight. We are each special and wonderful to God. Even the drug addicts and the criminals. Maybe our help will do nothing to change their circumstances, but knowing someone helps makes life a little easier.

Whether you help or not, God still loves you. God loves you no matter what.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and every one who loves is born of God and knows God. -- 1 John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and every one who loves is born of God and knows God. -- 1 John 4:7

God is Love

If you ever wonder, "Who loves me?" you now have an answer. God loves you not because you love him. God loves you just because. Because you are a unique and special person. Because you are one of a kind, God finds you precious. God opens his arms to you. Whether you accept this love, or not, God loves you. God loves you no matter what.

But God demonstrated His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. -- Romans 5:8

Thank you very much Brenda. It hurts me to see people feel like they are not loved and special. I wrote this to let us all know the truth.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on November 28, 2019:

Kari,

I enjoyed reading this piece.

God does love us and he is love. If we look closely we can see his love in everything. We can feel his presence.

Sometimes it is difficult to love those who have hurt us but God knows what is inside our hearts. He will guide us.

Church is not for the people who are saved. .it is for all of us sinners. God loves us no matter what we do in life.

Nice read and good write.

Audrey, Isn't it wonderful to know! I am sad that not everyone knows how much God loves us. I do not know what I would have done at times in my life without this knowledge. Thank you so much for your uplifting remark. Blessings to you also!

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 13, 2018:

Jackie, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I think I had written one but I must have forgotten to post it. LOL, I do that at times. Jesus is Lord! I am trying to write more about this. Thank you, Jackie!

Audrey Hunt from Idyllwild Ca. on January 11, 2018:

I am loved. I know this because I constantly feel God's love. I am His child made in His image. Wow! This is powerful and humbling at the same time. To realize we are all connected with His love - we are all one is so beautiful.

Thank you Kari for this magnificent message and reminder. I will hold this thought close to my heart when the tough times come.

Blessings,

Audrey

Jesus is Lord and I think it is great for each of us to share Him all we can.

Great job, Kari.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 04, 2018:

Thank you, Mary! It is so comforting to know God is watching over us and has a plan. It makes me feel so special.

Mary Wickison from Brazil on January 04, 2018:

As the new year starts, it's good to read this and remind ourselves that we are indeed unique and have special gifts to share.

Even when it feels like a dark cloud is continually above us, God is still there guiding us and has a plan. It is a comfort to know, someone's got our back.

I especially appreciate the part about judging others, we don't know their problems or their journey.

Very moving and uplifting.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 03, 2018:

Thank you for your kindness, FlourishAnyway! I do believe we are put on Earth to love each other. Sometimes it is hard when we do not understand others, but we always have more in common than not.

Linda, Thank you so much! The one constant in my life is I know I am loved by God. I am honored to be loved and cherished by people here on HP. I do hope that at least one person comes to know God's love by this.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 03, 2018:

Verlie, Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to me! I am feeling led to publish more along this line. I never thought of Evangelism as being my gift, but maybe that is where I am being led. God bless you also!

FlourishAnyway from USA on January 02, 2018:

I like your message regarding loving people who are not Christian or different from oneself. You have a beautiful heart.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on January 02, 2018:

Your comment "I just wanted to thank you all for the outpouring of love that I felt reading your remarks. I wrote this to send love to others. I guess I forgot you reap what you sow. Thank you all, you have made my day!" brought me to tears.

You are loved by God, and you are loved and cherished by many people here on HP as well. And only God knows how many people will be touched by your words...

Verlie Burroughs from Canada on January 02, 2018:

Hi Kari, the day ain't over yet, still have to add my two bits :)

First of all thank you so much for this lovely, uplifting, outpouring of love. Wow! You go girl...

Second of all I'm thinking your calling may be Evangelism. Holy smokes, this is so well written and researched. It's a perfect go to church Sunday morning message.

Your enthusiasm is wonderful and clear. So, I would like to congratulate you. Being a Zen disciple, I have no qualms about saying any of this. God bless you Kari. Love, Verlie

Linda, Not only did he still make us, but, knowing our deepest, darkest secrets he still loves us and thinks we are precious beyond measure. There is nothing, absolutely nothing we can do to make him not love us. Knowing this makes life a little more wonderful!

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 02, 2018:

Eric, my heart overflows with love for God. He is even more constant than math. I love how you say it, "love love". I don't think enough people know that God is love. That makes me sad.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 02, 2018:

Thank you for reading and commenting, Bill. I've never had to ask that question either, but only because I know God loves me. I have known since I was 6 or 7. I find it hard to know that not all people feel this way. How awful it must be to not know God's love.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 02, 2018:

Thank you, Dora. Just as I believe God is love incarnate, I believe we are love also. Life is all about loving others.

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 02, 2018:

MizBejabbers, I, too, believe it is our souls that are made in God's image. Because our souls are incorporeal. I believe human love gets caught up in fear too often. Fear is the love killer. I do believe we were made to love and help each other. Otherwise, why would they feel so good?

Kari Poulsen (author) from Ohio on January 02, 2018:

Thank you so much, Nell! It is true, how we are all the same. And we are all loved.

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on January 02, 2018:

Kari, what a beautiful message. I think all of us need to be reminded that we are loved. What I tell my family and friends is that God knew you even before you were born. He knew what you would do throughout your life. He knew your worst moments, your darkest secrets. And, despite all that, He STILL made you, because He loves you.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on January 02, 2018:

Thank you for giving us this in love.

1 John 4 makes it clear that God is love. And then

Mark 12:30 To love God with all your heart

So we have a clear mandate to love love. That makes it so easy for me to love.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 02, 2018:

I am happy to report that no, I never asked myself that question. I have always felt loved. Wonderful piece of writing and message.

Happy New Year!

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on January 01, 2018:

What a great message with which to begin the New Year. The assurance that God loves me cancels all the reasons to fuss and fret. It also motivates me to love others. Thanks for underscoring these truths.

Doris James MizBejabbers from Beautiful South on January 01, 2018:

Kari. I am trying to understand the difference between God's love and human love. The Bible says that we are made in God's image. I believe that it is referring to our spirit or soul, not our body looks like God. If we are made from God himself, how can he not love us, just as a mother loves her child. I think we have to go into our higher selves to attain and understand that love for others. Ego is part of the human lower mind. This is a beautiful hub, Kari. Thanks for the reminder that no matter what happens in our lives, our creator still loves us.

Nell Rose from England on January 01, 2018:

Gorgeous, Kari! I love it! and yes I totally agree with what you said about other people being different but eat and feel pain the same as we do. I remember when I started on here, and then joined facebook. I started getting so many friends from around the world, and I noticed one thing. We are all the same! whether we live in England, or India, Singapore or America, we do feel the same, and its wonderful! What a great first hub to read in this the new year!
