Thanks, Jeff. Feels like a brand new read for a brand new day. I appreciate you for your sentiments and for reminding me of these quotes. Have a great "today."

Jeff Zod from Nairobi on February 27, 2019:

Hi Dora,

You surely are one of the most motivational writers on HP hands down! I absolutely love all of your articles. It has been said that the rarest thing in life is to live. Millions of people waste their time and then regret when they are old. Myles Munroe asks "What will you tell the ghosts of your unfulfilled dreams on your deathbed."

With that said, here are 10 favourite quotes on Today vs Tomorrow

1. Today is a gift from God—that is why it is called the present. (Sri Ravi Shankar)

2. Those decisions you make today could change your life forever—stay focused. (Charmaine J Forde)

4. Who promised you tomorrow? Better choose the Lord today, For tomorrow very well might be today. (The Winans)

35. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows . . . So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there's only today. (Lauren Oliver)

Audrey, thanks for your encouragement. Of course, whenever I think of you I want to sing.

Audrey Hunt from Idyllwild Ca. on February 27, 2019:

Each of these quotes become a beautiful reminder that all we have is today. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, only today. I even go a little further...we have only this moment. Make the most of every second. Be grateful for the time you have and don't waste it with worry.

I look forward to your articles...they make me feel good!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on February 07, 2019:

Lori, thanks for the smile. Glad you caught these quotes, after all.

Lori Colbo from Pacific Northwest on February 06, 2019:

I don't know how I missed this one but very inspiring to me. I think we should elect piglet for president.

Thanks, Alyssa. A great happy week to you, too and a productive, prosperous New Year.

Very thought-provoking.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 18, 2018:

Thank you, Laura, for spelling out the benefits for us and those around us when we focus on the present. Thanks especially for emphasizing what it means on our relationships. Good points!

Lora Hollings on October 17, 2018:

I love your wonderful article, Dora, about focusing on today. If everyone lived with the thought that today is my last day so I must put forth my best effort, I think we would all see improvement in many areas of our lives and on a collective level, changing our world for the better! "The future depends on what you do today, and "If today is all you have to live, what will you do?” "Be reverent before the dawning day. Do not think of what will be in a year, or in ten years. Think of to-day.” Such great quotes to remind us of the importance of the moment and living in the present!

If we also want to leave cherished memories for those who we leave behind, then we must focus on the present moment so that we can have more meaningful relationships to those significant others and take the little time that we have with them and make the most of it!

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 17, 2018:

Natalie, glad you like the quotes. Yes, we need reminders to help us stay focused.

Antonio50S on October 17, 2018:

Thought these couple of verses were really good. I'ts about "Today"

( Mathew 6:22 & 34 )

"The eye is the lamp of the body, If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light"

Meaning, Stay "focused, keep your eyes on the prize" keep all things simple. When we focus on more than one thing, layaties are weakened, cofusions sets it.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own"

That takes faith and trust, but without the faith, Its as jusus said, we may as well eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die.

Natalie Frank from Chicago, IL on October 17, 2018:

A great collection of quotes to keep us focused on living in the moment.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 17, 2018:

Thank you, Audrey. I appreciate your input. Happy when my readers are inspired.

Audrey Hunt from Idyllwild Ca. on October 17, 2018:

Quotes like these fill me with inspiration. I'm really working on #39. It's a challenge but so necessary, Thank you for this beautiful list.

Antonio50S on October 16, 2018:

To MsDora.

I think i realize why you left that comment in place regarding ( Hebrews 3 )

And yes, you was right, nobody is going to look for that information in a comment section. May need to write about it ?

That's 2 things i learned from you today.

Will explain the reason for my reaction, my spelling is absolutely useless, it took me a while correcting all my spelling with that information, then you deleted it.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 16, 2018:

Thank you, Flourish. I took your advice.

MsDora. Just delete ( all ) my comments now please.

Thank You.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 14, 2018:

Antonio, thank you for sharing your observations, insights and explanations. They are helpful.

Antonio50S on October 14, 2018:

This may be one of the most important "TODAY" quotes/verses ever mentioned ( Hebrews 3:7 & 15 ) which maybe you missed ?

It's a "Warning" against Unbelief"

"Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion"

Israel back then witnessed so many miracles, but they still allowed their hearts to become hardened over time through their own deliberate choices.

Have to say, most of us, "Mankind" are just like that deep down, "faithless" the only things we really trust for sure is our own abilities and things we can see with our own eyes.

I know Moses, Joseph, King David, and so many others in the bible were careful not to take any credit for their work, and directed all credit to the Most High Jehovah himself.

Not saying you're doing anything wrong Ms Dora, I'm no judge of anyone, since i know everyone of us will be judged in the end, including me.

I did learn one big thing in my time as a Jehovahs Witness, " Don't put your trust in earthling man who no salvation belongs" I don't have any issues with JWs quoting "Charles Taze Russell" or SDA quoting "Ellen White" but i do know with all the credit and praises "Charles Russsell" was receiving, in the end, he started to see himself as Gods mouth piece and Prophet. I know that may sound silly, it always does when we apply it to others.

I do like all them "Today" quotes, But If we really understand them Hebrew verses it will change our whole way of looking at Today, and will have so many more "Todays" in the future as well.

Going to Question Number ( 22 ) what exactly can we "put off till tomorrow what ought to be done today" ? No amount of work is going to determine our salvation, ( Ephesians 2:8 & 9 ). The things we should not put off till tomorow are things dealing with the human heart, making changes from within, "learning to let Go & forgive" learning "humility" and for people to stop using words like "Karma" as a form of vengence against others.

This poster on another forum was saying, i get the feeling a lot of christians on these hubs are in it for the Glory and so forth. He maybe right since Jesus's name don't seems to come up very often, even Jesus directed credit back to God, something we humans seems to have trouble doing. Maybe that poster was right ?

This is a good one for all of us to look up. ( What is the Unforgivable Sin ? and why is it called Unforgivable ? ) If we understand that, along with Hebrews 3, "Today" will start to take on a new meaning.

We can be as positive as much as we like about Today, but unless the Lord lays the foundations, the builder works in vain.

All Credit goes to Jesus & God, "Nobody Else" including any religious system or organisation.

One question i find really annoying, does your God kill Children as when God ordered the canaanites destruction ? The answer is no, but if we know the history of the canaanites, these are the very things they did themselves for which God ordered there destruction. Not Kill "Divine Judgement" and the canaanites were responsible for the children they brought into the world, since they would grow up to be just like the parents.

Even though i don't believe God is using any religious organisation as some claim, all religions have good things about them as well. This is one i took with me from my time with the JWs. "The heart is the seat of motivation" Guard it & trust in Christ alone. Who Else can raise the dead, like Jesus did with Lazarus ?

Suzie from Carson City on October 07, 2018:

Dora.....Wonderful quotes! So authentic and inspirational. I can rarely choose a "favorite" from a group of thoughts or ideas. Each one has special meaning and can affect us in positive ways. Each one seems to be more moving than the last one......all are valuable.

Thank you, for always bringing us something profound to think about, Dora. You have a knack for keeping us on a positive path! Peace, Paula

manatita44 from london on October 07, 2018:

Thanks Dee.

A reminder to us all of what's important. The here and now ... the sacrament of the present moment ... living in the Eternal Now.

The quotes are varied nicely even if essentially saying the same thing.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 06, 2018:

This one really got me today as I really identify with today for tomorrow. "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." (Abraham Lincoln)

Of course I take your caution.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 05, 2018:

Thanks, Nell. True, some of these quotes might be overlooked until we make the effort to search them out. We need them.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 05, 2018:

Sean, thanks for your affirmation. I came upon these lyrics in my search for appropriate quotes. I trust your judgment.

Stephen, you made my day. That is exactly what I wish we would all do. Thanks for taking the lead.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 05, 2018:

Eric, that happens. Not bad unless excitement about tomorrow causes you to stop doing what you should be doing today.

Nell Rose from England on October 05, 2018:

Great and very wise words from so many people. Just reading them makes me realise how we should take notice of them. Great hub!

Ioannis Arvanitis from Greece, Almyros on October 05, 2018:

An excellent choice of quotes, my dear Sister, helpful and inspiring! As always you have done remarkable work, and thank you for this. But to find in your Hub lyrics from a song of Five Finger Death Punch, was far beyond my imagination! They are one of my favourites bands. They have many good songs with powerful and inspiring lyrics, but they are "harsh" enough! You chose a part of an excellent song!

Respect!

Sean

Angel Harper on October 05, 2018:

A great inspiration, thanks! I'm picking a few of these to help me get through my work and revision.

Stephen Barnes from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador on October 05, 2018:

Thank you for this Dora, you have inspired me. I am going to type each of these quotes, and more besides, on individual sheets of paper, and each morning stick a new one on the fridge to remind myself and my family of the importance of today.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 05, 2018:

Reading this today is a great way to start today. I will be back for more. My biggest problem with staying in today is that I can sometimes get all excited and happy about tomorrow. But maybe that is a today thing.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 05, 2018:

Rachelle, I am so happy that you got though the ordeal safely. Sure, God is watching over you, and each of your todays is a reminder of how blessed you are. Thank you for sharing.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 05, 2018:

You're welcome, Linda. Glad to find quotes that my readers want to remember. I'm encouraged.

Rachelle Williams from Tempe, AZ on October 05, 2018:

The first quote in this article really resonates with me, (Today is a gift from God—that is why it is called the present), because the night before last, I was in an accident where someone ran a red light and caused me to crash my bike (125cc Scooter). I flipped into oncoming traffic and skid across the street, my bike landed on top of me, which stopped my skid into God knows what, and I got up and walked away. I was wearing a helmet, a motorcycle jacket, gloves and specialized jeans, but mostly my Grandma, angles, God and whoever else...was watching over me from above. I spent the night in the hospital, getting xrayed, and scanned, but I'm okay considering. I've been saying "Thank you, Lord" ever since, because I KNOW I'm lucky to be here typing this to you today....

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on October 04, 2018:

I love your collection of quotes, Dora. There are so many that I find inspirational and that I want to remember. Thank you for sharing them.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 04, 2018:

Jackie, I remember the song- a really good song to help keep us focused:

"I just feel like something good is about to happen

I just feel like something good is on its way

He has promised that he'd open all of heaven

And brother, it could happen any day . . .

And brother, this could be that very day."

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 04, 2018:

Flourish, it makes me happy that you find the quotes useful. That you want to print some is very encouraging.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 04, 2018:

Tim, I appreciate your comment and impressed that you took the time to select a favorite quote. I'm encouraged.

Jackie Lynnley from the beautiful south on October 04, 2018:

Love this Dora and it takes me back to a preacher you may have heard of, Oral Roberts? He had this something good is going to happen to you, this very day and I loved that and lived by it for a very long time. Pretty sure there is the song of that too.

So looking at today and even more, expecting good things from God. Miracles, blessings or just a guiding thought he puts in our heart.

Thank you, I think I will try to put these thoughts back into my waking moments! If we expect good, I think God will always deliver.

FlourishAnyway from USA on October 04, 2018:

This was so spot-on that I am selecting about 7 of my favorites to print out and hang/tape up in spots like the refrigerator, near my computer, near my kitchen sink where I look out the window, etc. so that I may stay motivated and focused on the moment.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 04, 2018:

Ms. Dora,

Excellent. I love this article. This was my favorite quote:

9. Today is non-refundable. Therefore, I’d better live it in a manner that a refund is unnecessary.” (Craig D. Lounsbrough)

As I read this, I remember what my dad used to say: If hindsight is 20/20, you are looking in the wrong direction and will stumble today.

Thanks for this wonderful article full of quotes to help us focus on our daily life.

A very positive, encouraging, and thoughtful work,

Much respect and deepest admiration,

Sincerely,

Tim

Chitrangada, it is true. It is easy to keep looking back. Hopefully each one will find at least one quote which encourages us to stay focused on the present.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 04, 2018:

Thanks, Shauna. We think sometimes that yesterday doesn't want to let us go; now we know that the letting go is our choice. I can relate.

Dora Weithers (author) from The Caribbean on October 04, 2018:

Gina, you're on a good path. Appreciating the moment helps us to get from it the most that we can.

Bill, I like quotes too. Happy to share some inspiration with you.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on October 04, 2018:

Excellent article and wonderful quotes!

These quotes are good reminders for focusing on the present. It is so natural to look back, into the past, whether for good or bad reasons, about what has already happened and we can’t do anything about it.

I liked all the quotes. Thanks for sharing this inspirational article!

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on October 04, 2018:

Thanks Devika. I need these myself with so many distracting people and things around.

Gina Welds Hulse from Rockledge, Florida on October 04, 2018:

I absolutely love these. Thanks for sharing them. Recently I have found myself responding to the question, "What time is it?" with "Now." It is basically another way to stating number 1...Today is a gift from God. That is why it is called the present.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on October 04, 2018:

I love quotes. Always have. I find them always inspirational and thought-provoking, so thank you for these, and blessings to you always.

I just can't get this done in one read. I have to ponder on these slowly. See you later here.

You're welcome, Jeff. Thanks for taking the time to record the quotes you really like. It helps.

Jeff Zod from Nairobi on October 04, 2018:

Hi Dora,I really love the following

quotes :

Today is the wise man’s day; tomorrow is the fool’s day. (Banks).

Yesterday I had a problem; today I still have the same problem! But today I changed the way I look at it! (C. JoyBell C.)

The men who always do today the thing they see ought to be done today are the men who make a success for time and for eternity. The men and women who put off until tomorrow what ought to be done today are the men and women who make a shipwreck of time and of eternity. (Banks)

Today is a day which we never had before, which we will never have again. It rose from the great ocean of eternity, and again sinks into its unfathomable depths. (Thomas Dewitt Talmage)

Thank you for the time quotes.
