Using Your Intuition to Have a Better Life

You've probably heard the expression: "listen to your heart" but what does that really mean? Everyone has the ability to use his or her intuition in order to have a better quality of life and to make better choices and decisions. In fact, you may already be using your intuition in your daily life or work without even realizing it. The truth is, we already have all the answers we need within ourselves, we only need to take some time to stop and listen to them before making decisions in life.

So how does using your intuition work and can anyone do it? Yes! Everyone can do it but not everyone knows exactly how. Most of the time, people are super busy and running around trying to get everything done in a set amount of time. We don't really stop to smell the roses or think our choices through because we simply don't have the time or energy to do so. You will notice a big difference in your life once you start to make decisions using your intuition because no one knows you better than yourself and when it comes down to it you already know what you need to be doing.

Some people call it a gut instinct or inner feeling of knowing that they can't really explain. It's like when you meet someone and you have a first impression of them. We're told not to judge people by our first impressions of them and while that may be true to some extent, our first impression we have of someone is usually the most right one. We usually make a first impression of someone within the first ten seconds we meet them and it's usually spot on! That is crazy but very true that we have the ability to read people as soon as we meet them. When we use that ability to our advantage we can make right decisions about the type of people we allow into our lives.

Some people are better than others at reading people. They use a person's body language and energy to judge right away the characteristics of that human being. Others are not so lucky and have trouble in determining a person's true intentions. It is important to remember that just because someone says all the right things doesn't mean they're a good person. If the energy vibes you're getting from that person says they're bad news but they're super nice to you and say all the right things you need to stop and think about all the information you are receiving before making a choice about them.

When I was a teenager, I made a lot of wrong decisions regarding the types of people I kept in my life. It wasn't that I was dumb or naive but I just didn't listen to my instincts and intuition. I remember meeting my ex-boyfriend for the first time and I just got a really bad energy vibe from him. Somehow I just felt like he wasn't the guy for me and there was no future for us. What I should have done was walk the other way and never look back but I choose to completely disregard my instincts and enter into a relationship with him and sure enough it was the worst relationship I ever had and it only left me wishing I had made better judgements about him and listened to myself.

Now I make much better judgements of character and I only need a few seconds to pick up good or bad energy vibes when meeting someone. I am also good at determining a person's characteristics when I see their photo. You can tell a lot about a person by their eyes, as it's been said the eyes are the windows to the soul. Basically everything you need to know about a person can be read through their eyes. If you know nothing else but you see their eyes that is enough to know what kind of person you are dealing with because the eyes don't lie. A person's eyes can tell you if they are kind, confident, conceited, serious, and all other qualities that a person can have.

You are using your intuition when you meet someone and simply "know" they are the one. This could be simply by seeing someone or their photo and having complete certainty that you have met the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. Does this mean you are psychic? Well that could certainly be a possibility, but more than likely you just have a strong intuition and your inner instincts are right on. Sometimes it happens very fast and we know right away if someone is right for us or not.

Other times we might need a little more time but just remember that anyone who is truly right for you won't require you talking yourself into it. You never have to force anything that is truly meant to be. Fate is fate and if you are meant to be with someone you are going to be together regardless of the obstacles you may face along the way. If you have serious doubts about someone and really not sure about them then they probably are not right for you. Like the Buddhists have said: "If you meet somebody and your heart pounds, your hands shake, your knees go weak, that's not the one. When you meet your soulmate, you'll feel calm. No anxiety, no agitation." When you know, you know and when you don't you shouldn't force yourself into knowing. You just have to listen to yourself and see what you come up with.

Personally, when I meet someone that is right for me I get this feeling of possibility. Like I can picture a life with them and being happy together. Maybe they're not my "soulmate" or destiny but I could still be happy with them nonetheless. There are a few people I have met that I have felt that with. Other people I just feel nothing and see a blank when I try to think about our future together. It just doesn't make sense no matter how much I may want it. When I was a younger, I might have talked myself into it and tried to force it to work, but now I am a little older and hopefully a little wiser and I know when I have to walk away. If something doesn't make sense in my head then it definitely can't make sense in reality. If I can't even picture it then that is a sure sign it's not right for me.

Sometimes we get good or bad feelings about places. From the time I was little, I would be able to walk into a house and tell right away if it was a happy place or not. I could pick up on the energy in the house and if it was negative I used to wonder how people could live there because I certainly couldn't do it, I could barely stay there for an hour. I didn't really know what was happening back then, I didn't really pay much attention to it. All I really knew for sure was that some houses I wanted to spend time in and other houses I wanted to leave as soon as I entered. This had nothing to do with how big or small the house was or if it was in a good or bad neighborhood. I could spend hours at a friend's house and be perfectly content and in another friend's house I just wanted to leave right away. Something just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm not saying the houses were necessarily haunted, but I could just pick up on the negative energy meaning that maybe the people who lived there argued a lot or maybe someone had a drinking or drug problem and was therefore a negative person who emitted negative energy into his or her surroundings.

Our intuition is our best friend when we have to make big life decisions. Let's say you have a job offer in California and another in Georgia, which one do you take? Well, obviously you have to check out the basics like salary but somehow you might already know which one is right for you. Sure, the beach in California is beautiful but somehow your heart is leaning towards Georgia. So you decide to take the Georgia job and thank goodness you did because you end up meeting your future husband there, a real life Southern gentleman. Most of the time our intuition is working to help us make the best decisions possible, you just have to give it a chance and listen.

Some people are more comfortable looking for outward signs in order to figure out if they're making the right decisions. Maybe they haven't quite figured out the whole intuition thing or they just need something else to be sure they're on the right path. Life gives us a lot of signs if we only take the time to stop and pay attention to them. Maybe you want to figure out if you're with the right person. Let's say he just asked you to marry him and you said yes but you're having doubts because there was someone else in your life that you're not quite over yet. You want a sign to show you that you are making the right decision in marrying this guy. Suddenly, you're seeing your fiance's name everywhere. You pick up a book to read and the main character's name is your fiance's. You're driving down the street and the street name is your fiance's. You can't even turn on the television and watch a show without seeing a character with your fiance's name. This is strange and unusual because your fiance's name isn't all that common and you've never run into it so often before now. You could take this as a sign that you're supposed to marry this man and you've made the right decision. There are signs everywhere in life that are supposed to help you in making the right choices. You only need to pay attention to them and make sense of them and how they fit into your life.

Other times, your intuition can come in handy is when you are buying a house or looking for an apartment. You have seen ten houses already but when you walk into the house that you are meant to live in, you just know that it's the only one for you. The same goes for the apartment that you are meant to rent. It doesn't mean that it's the biggest one or has the best view, the one that is meant for you will just feel like home. You can already picture yourself living there and being happy and enjoying life. You don't have to be psychic to know when things are right or wrong for you, you just have to listen to yourself and pick up on the energy vibes you receive. Everything in the physical world is made up of energy, including people, and when you read their energy you have insider information about that particular person or place. While people may lie about their intentions, the energy they give off will never lie so that's the only sure thing you can count on.

So how do you fully take advantage of your intuition in your everyday life? Stop and listen to it before you make quick decisions. Sure, sometimes you will know the answer right away and there will be no question in your mind about it. Other times, things won't add up and you will have to make sense of it. Just know that your first impressions and instincts about a person, place, or thing are usually spot on. This is because your first impressions were without any bias or knowledge of other information. You were simply using your intuition and not trying to talk yourself into anything. Remember that if you are totally forcing yourself into something, trying to find a good side of someone when they are obviously only showing you their bad, you need to stop yourself and realize that you already have all the answers you need and can make the right decision about them. When someone is trying to show you who they are, please listen because they have done the work for you and you just need to accept that information and act accordingly. When you make the right decisions by listening to your intuition, you will be at peace and have no anxiety or stress. You will have done everything you could with what you have and that's something you can live with. If you are true to yourself in life and you know it, you can never be wrong.

I'm really greatful that I've read your article. I myself doubt a lot with my own inner voice, and have this idea to seek for a psychic to aknowledge that decision. But after reading this, it made me realized that I have to listen more to it and follow it where it leads me.

        Thank you!

Denise.w.anderson- Thanks for your feedback. Yes it's like we all have an inner compass that tells us whether we're on the right path or not. When we veer off course we get lost in life.

ThatMommyBlogger- I have that happen all the time! There's a store in the town I live and as soon as I even drive into the parking lot I feel the energy is negative. Illinois is built on a lot of Indian burial grounds, that must have something to do with it as well.

I believe that each one of us has an inner voice or conscience that will guide our actions if we let it. Like you have said here, it helps us to know when we are doing the right thing by the energy, or feeling that we have. We will feel at peace when we are doing what is best for us, and confusion and darkness when we need to take a different course of action.

I understand the energy thing. I drove down a street in my subdivision that I've never been down the other day, and I had to leave immediately. Hard to explain, but I knew that something just wasn't right about that street.
