What Is Happiness?

Happiness, it is the state of being happy. It is the opposite of sadness. It is a sense of well-being. And for all of us happiness could mean something completely different. Some people find happiness in love, others find happiness in material things, and others spend their whole life trying to find happiness without ever find it. I have learned that happiness really come from ourselves. To me, happiness is when you really learn to appreciate what you have, the people around you and most of all, when you learned to appreciate and respect who you really are. When you are in peace with yourself and learn to enjoy even the little things in life, trust me, you are a happy person.


My Happiness

The more I live, the more I realize that this world is not as complicated as it seems. People are complicated, and people complicate their lives, when actually you need so little to be happy in this world. Is not about how much money you have, or what car you drive. Yes, money make things easier, but never buy happiness. If you ask me what makes me happy, this would be my answer. This is my top 15 list:

  1. To wake up every morning and see I'm alive.
  2. Know that I'm healthy and I can do so much with my body.
  3. Looking at my kids smile every single day, that's my fuel.
  4. Love makes me happy, love in all it's forms.
  5. The beach makes me really happy. The sand on my toes feels amazing. And the sound of the waves is so beautiful and relaxing.
  6. My cat. She is the cutest.
  7. Good food is heaven.
  8. Exploring new places makes me so happy. My soul loves adventure.
  9. To be heard and respected.
  10. Spend time with my sisters. I'm the happiest.
  11. A conversation with a good friend.
  12. A hug from my parents, specially since I moved so far away. Nothing is more special in this world.
  13. Romance, of course.
  14. Exercise makes my body happy.
  15. Being grateful and thankful to God every night gives happiness to my spirit.

What You Feel Is Happiness Or Emptiness?

Now, are you happy or do you feel like something is missing in your life? I have known so many people who are empty on the inside. Why? They don't even know what or how they can fill that emptiness anymore. Most of them are focusing their efforts in the wrong direction. A great number of them depend on material things to be happy. The more they buy, the happier they think they are. But the truth is that the happiness they feel when buying new things last a very short period of time. It goes away in a blink of an eye. Soon they will need to buy more things to feel happy again. And this is a cycle that never ends. That feeling of emptiness never goes away. But in order to truly find happiness in life, it is time to start looking in other direction.

Looking For Happiness?

If you wonder where you should start looking for real happiness let me tell you that it could be easier than you really think. Happiness is inside each and every one of us. Happiness is a decision you make every single day when you wake up in the morning, just say: "I am going to be happy today because I deserve to be happy". We know that every person is different, and different things will make us happy, but only when we choose to be happy and when we make that decision of start looking for the bright side of everything, only when we do that, we are going to experience what real happiness is. Once you make that decision, a good way to start finding things that bring happiness to your life are taking notice of the little things that we often take for granted. I'm talking about hose little blessings that you are so used to have in your life that you even forget about. For example, the only fact that you opened your eyes this morning is a reason to be happy. We just have a new day full of opportunities to make this the happiest day of our lives. Is up to you. I advise you to always take some time to do activities that you really enjoy during the day. It could be go for a walk or have a cup of coffee, anything, but really be in the moment and feel the happiness running through your body. Also, give, give to others. Give your time, give your help, give love and compassion. Trust me, when we give, it gives us more happiness than we could even think. Last, but not least, to bring happiness to your life, have adventures! Have new experiences! Fuel your body and soul with the great things this world has to offer. Travel, try new foods, learn to dance, learn a new language, etc. After all, that's what life is about, to live it to the fullest, because at the end, only the great memories remain.
