God Is My Refuge

Personal testimonies and life experiences that illuminate the undeniable presence of God.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.- Proverbs 18:10

Safe At Last

What's Chasing You?

Have you ever felt that you were running, from something or even someone? Ever felt the feeling like you needed to look over your shoulder?

This is called 'Fear', and you may not have it right now, at this moment, but everyone at some point in their lives has felt it. Some people become so overwhelmed, in their jobs, in their families, with life in general. This can lead to depression and anxiety. You'd be in a bad state if you didn't know who your Saviour is, and that He said to us that He is our Rock, our Fortress, and our Savior —

"my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety." - Psalm 18:2

It's easy to get discouraged, to feel down, to feel anxiety, whether it be financial worry, concern over a wayward child, sibling or family member, but the Living God who reigns has told us that we need not worry! How amazing is He that He has written down everything for us, two thousand years before we can even encounter a problem! It's all in our Bible — the Living Word of God. He inspired the writers of the Bible so that His message would get to us, his children, so that we would know that we are loved, cherished, and safe, in Him. All we have to do is let go and let God.

Running to God isn't something we do naturally, because we are but human, and since we live in the world we are sometimes carried away by the mainstream ideas; we tend to try to fix things on our own. We shouldn't do that. Not ever.

Whatever you face in your daily life, or whether it be a life-changing event - know that "the LORD goes before you" - Isaiah 52:12

Go To God

Even if it means physically going somewhere!

I have found that I can go to God for even the simplest things, and He will go before me and clear the way. He has performed so many miracles in my life that there are too many to mention here. But one such testimony is when I was five months pregnant with my first baby, we basically 'fled' one continent to live in another, simply because the living conditions were not good, and there was also an element of witchcraft... now you may think that I moved from a developing country to a developed, but au contraire! We moved from the USA to South Africa. We had a feeling that something just wasn't right, especially by the people who were around us (people who were against our marriage) so we left, and just in time. My baby was born premature by a few weeks (mostly from stress), almost died, but praise be to God for His loving Hand upon us that I delivered a healthy baby boy in my home country where I was safe and protected by God, who gave His angels charge over us. We prospered and lived in peace, surrounded by the people who were truly for us. My son is a healthy, intelligent and independent child who loves and adores God. Praise be to the Lord of Hosts!

"For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone" - Psalm 91:11-12

Just know that the moment you decide to run to Him — He WILL be there to rescue you, and under His Wing you will find shelter.

My 'safe house' is in the steadfast, loving arms of my God, my Saviour, my Protector — Jesus Christ.

"He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart" - Psalm 91:4
