I'm an Un-philosopher and dis-thinker who questions everything & learns from anything. Oh, the inevitability of death and the joy of living!
The White Board at Work
I've mentioned in my Hubs that there is this amazingly simple White Board at work, right at the entrance, that is used to write down quotes on most days. Some of my colleagues who work through the night use the still of the night to search for and write quotes that brighten up everyones day, although there are occasional quotes that will confuse the life out of us!
In this hub, I will show five short quotes that will definitely bring a smile to your face and have a positive impact on your life and thinking. Do let me know which one is your favorite and why. If you don't agree with these quotes do mention why in the comments section
Since I work in a place which is based on Christian principles, some of these quotes will mention God and have Biblical significance
Weed and a Wish
I like the simplicity with which this quote turns around a nuisance into hope. A similar line features in ‘The Crown’ by Kiera Cass - "Some see a weed; some see a flower".
What I like about this philosophy is that while a dandelion is definitely very pretty and delicateT, there is a huge debate as to whether it is classified as a weed or a wildflower. The dandelion plant can be a nuisance though! Yet, for some reason, out of this nuisance, somewhere in history, people started blowing away the delicate fibers of a dandelion and ended upup maki wishes which apparently will always come true!
The act of blowing away the delicate flower actually destroys it and out of this comes the wish that could be fulfilled. Through the realms of time, God alone knows how many dandelions have been destroyed with this desparate hope that a wish would come true - wishes that could be trivial or life-changing. Such is the beauty of life!
God is Everywhere, So Pray Anywhere
The omnipresent and omniscient nature of God is written throughout the Bible. I love how with just a few words, this quote brings that to life. There is something a little poetic in this little quote with the rhyming 'where's at the end of each line. It's something that you can easily repeat to yourself through tough times when you need to pray in the unlikeliest of places!
For those who believe in God, this is a source of comfort and strength in any situation, at any place and through any time.
Knee Mails are a very cool term to use for prayer. I like the cool, funky nature of this quote. I couldnt find out who made up this quote. I must mention though that going down to your knees for prayer can be a figurative statement. Prayer does not necessarily mean kneeling down. You can pray standing, sitting, on a bus, while jogging, etc (See the previous quote for details!!). "On My Knees" is often a metaphor for prayer. I must also add that God answers our cries and our tears even when they may not form the words of a prayer. These are situations when prayer is literally bowing down to God and letting the emotions and the fears speak out a prayer to Him.
We all fight unseen battles and can only get to a certain limit in our own ability. This quote mentions prayer as a great weapon to fight these battles. There are many songs that talk about this theological truth too. It is simple and Biblical, but very difficult to put into practice. Do you find it easy to surrender your invisible battles to God? What battles do you fight that are invisible?
Fighting against non-physical battles that crop up in our relationships, careers, studies and community certainly needs a non-physical weapon. This is what this quote says!
"When you walk with God, the impossible becomes possible". This is neither poetic nor punchy, but is one of the main things that anyone who believes in God will testify to. I really don't need to elaborate on this do I?
Do you have stories of impossibilities becoming possible through God? If you do, please share them here.
More To Come......
So that's the end of this short hub with short quotes from the WhiteBoard. I will try to throw in more such images and thoughts when I collect a few together.
Do you have a quotes board at work or at home? Does it encourage you? Do leave your valuable feedback and thoughts.
Like I mentioned right at the beginning, these quotes do draw from a relationship with God and carry Biblical principles. If you are an atheist or do not believe in God, you may be a little skeptical about them. Do share your perspective about these quotes in the comments section - I'd love to hear from you!
