Bible Verses About Love

It feels good to love. It's soothing to the spirit and relaxing to the soul. God is love and those who believe in Him know how to love. Through the Holy Spirit, God has shed His love in our hearts. There isn't any greater demonstration or expression of love, other than the Son of God, surrendering His life on Calvary cross for our sins.

Love is sacrificial, not self-serving, it goes over and beyond to accommodate the object of its affection.

God is love, and He expects His children to be as He is. To love isn't optional, but God's command. But who and how to love?

Fortunately, love isn't beyond our reach, it's as natural as breathing, God has created all men (male and female) with an innate passion to love.

However, to express love requires a bit of commitment and patience in the beginning. But not many people are willing to make the sacrifice of commitment and patience, they give up and fall by the wayside of hatred and bitterness.

But their demise doesn't have to be your portion. To help you, here are a few beautiful Bible Veres about love. These verses will inform, challenge, and inspire you to love unconditionally.

In the same way, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church"

Bible Verses About Loving Your Children

Children are the Lord's heritage. But they aren't always loving and kind as we may want them to be. At times our children behave disrespectful and unkind.

For parents, this isn't a pleasant situation to deal with, it's heartbreaking. Just picture the countless sacrifices you made for your children over the years. You did it because you loved them, and you weren't looking for anything in return, other than their appreciation and respect. But instead of showing you the love, respect, and appreciation you deserve, they disregard your feelings.

Being in such predicaments are likely to entertain thoughts of regrets, bitterness, and hatred toward your children. And though the Bible doesn't have scriptures that explicitly say to love our children. God expects us to love them, and with that in mind has given us these Bible verses to read and meditate upon.

Ephesians 6:4

"Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord."

Hosea 11:1

"When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt, I called my son."

"Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward."

Bible Verses About Loving the World

The following scriptures about love represent the only instances when expressing love is ungodly. As followers of Christ, we weren't called to love this world. The Bible says that those who love and cherish this world do so at their own demise.

Love for the world, as is implied here, doesn't mean our daily necessities (things we need to survive).

But love for the world here speaks of love for corruption, and deception, to do whatever necessary get by. Love for the world also refers to the disregard and disrespect of God's words.

Paying close attention to these Bible verses about loving the world will safeguard you from God's pending judgments on the ungodly.

1 Timothy 6:10

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows"

Philippians 3:18-19

"For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things."

2 Peter 2:12-15

"But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals, they too will perish. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed. They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness."

1 John 2:15-17

" Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."
