3 Fundamental Principles to Success
Everyone's opinions and views are different. What I have gathered through my years of experience is that no matter what you want to succeed in, these 3 fundamental principles will always be the same.
First Principle: Self-Discipline
“All success begins with self-discipline. It starts with you.”-Dwayne Johnson
The first and most important principle is self-discipline.
When we talk about discipline many people will have a negative reaction towards it. It is normally portrayed as punishment, for instance when we do something wrong as a kid we would get disciplined.
However, the word “discipline” comes from a Greek word that means “to teach or instruct”, and this very same discipline will determine one’s success or failure.
Think of discipline as a habit that you need to teach yourself to develop to choose between “what is in front of you now” and “what you want to achieve”. You will need to discipline yourself mentally and physically. This means making sacrifices and setting priorities.

For me personally, I had to make a lot of sacrifices in the beginning and let me tell you it was not easy. But as time went by the “bad” habits were replaced by “good” habits and the disciplining became easier.
One will never stop the need to discipline oneself, as there will be constant challenges and difficult obstacles to overcome.

Second Principle: Planning
“A day without a plan is like a journey without direction.”-Yellow
Like I said in the beginning, everyone's opinions and views are different. That is because all our daily lives, schedules and goals are different. You can hear from others about what works for them, but it might not work for you, as you will not be able to fit it into your daily life.
Planning ahead is very important to keep us on track. When we plan in advance we are more likely to stick to the plan. This will also help with time management.

My first action towards disciplining myself and making sacrifices was to sacrifice one of my online gaming weekends. I sat down to draw up a plan to start my weight loss journey that would fit my schedule and lifestyle.

Third Principle: Consistency
“Success don’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently.”-Marie Forleo
After you plan and find a routine that suits your lifestyle you will need to put it into action. You will find that there will be small changes in your plan as reality differs at times from the plan. Don’t get put down if things don’t go as you planned all the time, as plans may change from time to time due to different circumstances. Prioritize and see for yourself at that moment what is more important, again this is where discipline comes into play. In the beginning you might not see instant result, but as long as you are consistent, your hard work will definitely be rewarded.
I had to discipline myself many times to be consistent and move forward towards my goal. I kept telling myself “suck it up Mike! It will all be worth it in the end”. There were also times where I wanted to give up as I was not seeing results, but I kept telling myself “just give it a little more time”. Looking back I can see just how far I’ve come, but I am not going to stop here. I am going to keep being consistent and achieve greater results!
