25 Positive Thoughts To Ponder

Be positive...

I Will Survive!

We've all been through those stressful moments when we wonder how we will ever survive!

Our worries become a burden and the cortisol hormones within our body multiply from our stressful thoughts. Cortisol is a necessary hormone, but excess amounts of this hormone could cause damage to the body. It's best to keep cortisol in check with positive actions.

I believe that we do control our thoughts. I believe we have the capability to de-stress ourselves. I also believe that we do have the power to turn a negative thought into a positive thought!

Once we set our minds to do something we want, chances are we can. There are also times when we can't. It doesn't make one weak. We are who we are. We do the best we can with the resources and knowledge that we have.

Positive relaxation is a virtue. I hope my 25 positive thoughts to ponder help you in one way or another with whichever challenge you encounter.

Remember that thoughts can't work on their own. You must also feel positive and act on it. It's called teamwork. All three actions when practiced together could move mountains.

One important factor is to learn how to breathe correctly. When you wish to relax, inhale fully and then, without pausing, exhale slowly. Then repeat this as many times, as required.

On my planet I prefer to have a positive outlook. There are times when it's not easy, but I do try my best. We use more facial muscles to frown than to smile. So bring on the smile and spread the sunshine!

Positive and negative are directions? Which direction do you choose?

Mental Vacation of Positive Thoughts!

  1. A higher being has your back.
  2. Picture a favorite vacation spot. Cement that image into your mind.
  3. The initial sight of a newborn baby, their tiny fingers and toes always guarantee a smile.
  4. A scene from your favorite movie and continue to replay it in your mind.
  5. Imagine musical melodies that touch your soul.
  6. Recall a moment that you laughed so hard that you cried.
  7. What's the worst thing that could happen? Chances are it won't.
  8. You are braver than you think.
  9. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
  10. Everything happens for a reason. We might never know the reason, but we learn to appreciate it.
  11. Time does fly whether you are having fun or not. Never watch the clock.
  12. You have the capability to kick what irks you to the curb.
  13. It's mind over matter. You are more in control over your situation than you realize.
  14. Use your imagination and pretend you are a bird and fly to your favorite destination.
  15. Recite a prayer or inspirational quote.
  16. When one door closes another door opens.
  17. Mentally hum your favorite song. Over and over. Until you are lost in the moment.
  18. Imagine ocean waves and the sunrise. This is a tranquil thought that should give you comfort.
  19. We can't worry about things that we have no control over.
  20. Repeat this CCC mantra, "I'm calm, cool and collected."
  21. Create a mental note of your pet peeves and alter them in your favor.
  22. Reminder: This too shall pass.
  23. There is someone, somewhere who loves you and wishes only the best for you.
  24. No matter what situation you are in, consider that it could be worse.
  25. Have something to look forward to, whether later in the day, the week or the month.

Do the one thing you can not do. Fail at it. Try again. Do it better the next time. -Oprah

Stephanie Henkel from USA on December 02, 2014:

Great hub, Sunshine! Even optimists need a lift some days, and you sure gave us lots of positive things to ponder.

For me, two things usually help when I'm down. I think, "By this time next month (next year), this will all be over." The other thing is that certain music soothes my soul. I play it when I'm sad or overwhelmed, and it helps me get on the right track.

Shannon Henry from Texas on December 02, 2014:

What a great hub! Loved the commercial too! Children care so precious and they are usually able to find the joy adults often miss. . . unless they are tired or sick. ;)

Audrey Howitt from California on December 02, 2014:

I just need to pin this up somewhere!

Audrey Hunt from Pahrump NV on December 02, 2014:

Thank you, my ray of sunshine.

Without having read any of the other conmemts, I think people who say you have too much time on your hands are just jealous because they know they'll never have anything approaching your level of creativity and quirky uniqueness. Also, I read an online news article about you & your pictures a few months ago but couldn't locate the article again, so I googled "food zombie peanuts photography" and your blog came up as the first result. I love Google and the Internet *grins*

Michelle Liew from Singapore on February 12, 2013:

All 25 suggestions are truly good. Regarding #24...I once read a book that was all about just that subject but it was written in such a humorous fashion. I forgot the title and have long since passed it on. It made for a delightful read and also a good lesson told in such a funny way. Up and useful votes! :)

Linda, I like nos 1, 10. 15 & 19. I feel God's grace is behind me when I do a good deed,I do not try to worry unduly about anything since I have no control over things, all that happens is for the best and when in trouble I just pray and have trust in the Supreme being.

It's worked for me umpteen times and I'm sure it'll work for others as well.

A very positive hub. Voted up & useful. Sharing it.

Mary Craig from New York on September 14, 2012:

Hi Fullerman, I'm always sending you positive thoughts. You are one awesome dude!:)

Sandy Frost from India on March 31, 2012:

Very enlivening and spiritual hub. What a splendid work made is compilation of helpful thoughts in such a tremendous way. Really, hectic lifestyle and messy schedules pay us success and money but on the cost of stress. Then, memorizing some hopeful inspirations or any previous joyous moment plays it's role effectively while relieving and healing this stress as soon as possible and bringing the state of calm back. Thanks for writing this superb hub.

Ishwaryaa Dhandapani from Chennai, India on March 30, 2012:

This is a very thoughtful hub! I agree with many helpful points listed by you - as i too followed few of them. Sometimes I mentally play hit songs with fast dances in my mind and feel jolly and happy. Everyday, I pass by the beach near the office where I am working, I feel serene and happy. I love babies and carrying them or seeing their cute faces bring happiness to me! Keep on creating more sunshine in your forthcoming hubs!

Thanks for SHARING. Useful & Interesting. Voted up and Socially Shared.

A very inspirational hub! Enough positive thoughts to weather life's storms. Two of the quotes involve music; well, music does always have the magical ability to soothe the soul. Nice work! We'll be sharing this.

SanneL from Sweden on March 29, 2012:

Beautiful hub with positive and inspirational thoughts! No matter how difficult or painful our life is, I refuse to look at it with negative thoughts. This will bring me, my friends and family down with me. Life is too short and precious to dwell on negative thinking and past incidents - learn from them and move on.

Linda, I believe your beautiful face and smile can bring out the sunshine in even the most negative person! Voted up, useful and shared!

Movie Master from United Kingdom on March 28, 2012:

25 inspirational positive thoughts, excellent hub thank you and voted up!

Lesleysherwood on March 28, 2012:

Linda, I love this hub and am in total agreement with all you said. I am a great believer in positive thinking even though it took me years to cultivate. Once I realized that I could make an impact on my own brain there was no stopping me. Even at that time of the month where for some reason I wake up sad, I have to tell myself that it isn't real, nothing awful has happened, I have a chemical hormonal imbalance at this time! Voted UP!!

Linda Bilyeu (author) from Orlando, FL on March 27, 2012:

Hi Ava, You are in a positive state of mind with those thoughts!:)

Hi Rika, I am also a touch person, like a kid in a candy store. I am a hands on person. You, my friend emit strength from South Africa to Florida. If it wasn't for Hubpages we would have never known each other. For that I am thankful for HP's. Thank you for being your wonderful self. XO

Helen Murphy Howell from Fife, Scotland on March 27, 2012:

This is a really beautiful hub and so inspiring. I also like the fact that you've said about working at being positive. I think many folks make the mistake of just thinking about it without 'feeling' and 'acting on' as well. Then they are disappointed when they still don't feel very positive. This hub will be a great benefit not just to them, but for all of us who need a bit of a lift!

Voted up awesome!

jpelczar on March 27, 2012:

One of my favorite posts on Hubpages. Recall a moment that you laughed so hard that you cried. This is priceless advice. Voted up.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on March 27, 2012:

I really enjoyed this hub and I know it is so important to have a healthy outlook and do what it takes to avoid stress. Your 25 suggestions are excellent. Up and awesome.

Rika Susan from South Africa on March 27, 2012:

Wonderful, wonderful idea for a hub, Linda! I love your list. One other idea I like to practice, is to pretend that I can see and touch for the first time, like a baby discovering his or her world! This is one way of getting myself to really notice all the amazing and wonderful things around me, things otherwise so easily taken for granted, things I can be grateful for. This always gives me such a 'Wow' feeling!

I firmly believe that, while we may not always be able to choose our circumstances, we can always choose our reaction to them. That is one form of control we always have, no matter what happens. I refuse to sulk and I refuse to drag my loved ones and friends down with negativity. Life is way to precious for that.

Thank you for being our 'Sunshine'!

onlooker on March 27, 2012:

This is such a positive hub, I see so much of my parent's encouragements in the points that you've mentioned. Music has always helped me and a positive outlook that this too shall pass =) Thank you, Linda.

Nell...I like your new photo!!! I like the Big Bang Theory also!! The sight of a newborn baby is wonderful! I just saw one tonight. My neighbor brought her baby girl home from the hospital...Precious!:))

Annie Fenn from Australia on March 26, 2012:

I love your attitude, Sunshine and your lists.

"It's mind over matter. You are more in control over your situation than you realize."

I am finding this to be truer than I ever imaged. I also believe we can control our thoughts. I have had reoccurring negative thoughts over many years and more recently flash backs to bad memories that really bring me down. My mind now slams the door on these thoughts if they even try to creep in. I don’t have to initiate this slamming anymore, my mind just does it. Subconsciously I have obviously decided enough is enough. I am amazed at how powerful our minds are.

This is an insightful and very useful hub. Voting the good ups and SHARING.

Victoria Lynn from Arkansas, USA on March 26, 2012:

Great hub! I love "This too shall pass." I've also learned in the past month that when a door closes another one opens. That one has been so true. Many votes!

jeyaramd from Mississauga, Ontario on March 26, 2012:

These are great tips to keep your spirits soaring. The sky is the limit. Often times, we get ourselves all worked up for little things. Its important to have gratitude. I liked your tip that things can be worse. Its very true. We should appreciate how fortunate we are for what we have. There is always someone out there that is worse off than you are. As such, be merry and rejoice in being alive. It's a gift in itself. Thanks for sharing such an awesome hub. Two votes up. Way up. Thanks.

Nell Rose from England on March 26, 2012:

Hi, Such a great list, but the one that made me smile straight away was the picture in my head of the baby! I never thought of that, wonderful! If I find myself going into a 'downer' badly, I put on re runs of the big bang theory! lol! seriously, by the time I have watched at least three episodes, I am laughing so much, I had forgotten what I was down about! rated up and shared!

Ruchira from United States on March 26, 2012:

These are wonderful, very positive thoughts Linda, I don some of them all the time. After doing them for a while you end up training your mind to think positive, then it becomes natural. Thanks for sharing!

Suzie from Carson City on March 26, 2012:

So True, Sunshine. For our own mental health, we should all make it a practice to learn positive thinking as well as affirmations. It really is a matter of having control of one's thoughts, choosing helpful actions and always stiving for the inner peace we are meant to have.
