The Battle of Florence

Florence was a regular, slim, and good-looking girl at a High School in Wisconsin. She was in 11th grade and 17 years old. While she was in 11th grade, she would suddenly find it suffocating and gasp for fresh air. This happened for three months at a stretch, and she reported to her parents that she needed a checkup for her lungs at the hospital.

Her parents got alerted. Her mother immediately took her to the hospital, taking leave from work the next day. Florence was tested in different sectors for different areas of her body by doctors and nurses.

Then at the end of the day, Florence was spent up, weeping, and throwing herself into the arms of her mother. Her Mom consoled her. She said, "It’s okay. You will be fine.”

Florence’s mother talked to the doctors, and they said they couldn’t tell her anything yet but asked her to get her daughter’s report results after a week.

A week went by with worry, stress, and tension for Florence’s family. They prayed to God. Florence was her parents’ only child. They never anticipated that such a catastrophe would strike them.

It was time for Florence to get her tests report results. She shuddered in fear and felt uncomfortable in her skin. Both her parents accompanied her to the hospital. Her father was at the wheel, and he was the most upset. He couldn’t imagine anything and didn’t know what to expect. He had two girls to console- his wife and his daughter.

Finally, the hospital was in sight. "Time to go," declared Dad. They all got out of the car and went inside the hospital. They checked in at the counter and were allowed to consult Dr. Joseph Bennett, who was mainly examining Florence's health.

As they seated in Bennett's chamber, he began slowly. "I do not have good news. Nevertheless, I will break the news. Florence is suffering from a terminal illness, and she has very little time to live. I would say she has exactly three months. Her cancer in the lungs is in stage 4. We can hardly do anything about it. There is not much cure when cancer gets into stage 4."

Florence cried out in pain. Her parents hugged and held her while Dr. Bennett found his way out of the chamber.

The family started going home heartbroken, shedding an incessant flood of tears. The parents asked themselves in whispers. "Why did this happen to us? Florence is such a darling daughter."

The father, at the wheel, finally gathered strength and said, "Of course, we will get a second opinion from another hospital. That doctor may not be fully right. We will go to doctors who know the latest technologies well. Our daughter will be okay."

Florence dried her tears after hearing these words from her father. The family trio cheered up, reached home, cooked meals, and had lunch together. Both the parents gave company to Florence and kept her busy so that she wouldn’t have suicidal thoughts. The parents believed Florence could be cured.

The next morning, at breakfast, they broke the silence and declared to Florence that they were taking her to another hospital for a second opinion of her health condition.

The father said, “Don’t stay broken down like that, Florence. That doctor didn’t know everything and couldn’t fully narrate your health condition to us. Have faith in God. We will work this out.”

“Yes, Dad,” said Florence meekly.

In an hour, the family was on their way to the second hospital. They asked at the counter, "Which doctor knows the latest technologies here for lung and respiratory illness?"

The lady at the counter said, “All our doctors are good. Are you looking for newbie doctors who just joined the hospital for service? They are the ones who would be familiar with the latest technologies.”

The father thought for a while and said, “Yes, if that’s the case, we would opt for a young doctor, who specializes in lung/respiratory illness and knows the latest technologies.

The lady said, “Very well. I would recommend Dr. Arthur Kennedy. Here, take this slip.”

The family reached the doctor’s chamber and talked for a while. They didn’t say anything about the earlier doctor from another hospital.

Florence had to go through a second round of similar tests as in the previous hospital and was asked to contact Dr Kennedy after three days. This hospital looked more modern and efficient.

After three days, Dr. Kennedy talked with Florence’s family. He confirmed that Florence was suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. But there wasn’t much to worry about.

He said, “We will work on ‘Oxygen Therapy’. I will explain that in more detail. Bear with me."

The mother asked, “Will she have to skip school? She is in 11th grade now, almost on her way to finishing High School."

Dr. Kennedy said, “She will have to skip school for three weeks. That’s how long I will work on Oxygen Therapy with her”

Florence’s father asked, “How does Oxygen Therapy work?”

Dr Kennedy said, “Yes, I will start from its roots. My initial doctoral research was based on Oxygen Therapy. According to research by my peers, oxygenation of body cells in proper ways cures all types of diseases including cancer and above all, just any type of disease, you name it.”

The father interrupted, ”Can you give us some proof of your statement?”

Dr Kennedy said, “Yes, I will come to that point. You see a man named Otto Warburg was the Nobel Prize winner in 1931 for his work, "The prime cause and prevention of cancer." Twice Nobel prize winner, Warburg asserted that the development of cancer was owing to not having enough oxygen in body cells.”

Dr. Kennedy continued, "I have researched this area and have authored a book, ‘The Magical Cure for All Diseases’, which illustrates some simple home-oriented oxygenation techniques and methods that can cure about any disease. I also include a bonus, 'Oxygen Diet' with the book. You can find my book with the bonus in the hospital library, Amazon, or any bookstore.

The father said, "Can you tell us briefly how we can best take advantage of the book and the bonus? Of course, we will purchase them for the sake of our daughter."

Dr. Kennedy said, “There are four steps you can take based on the Oxygen Therapy.

1) First let your daughter eat those foods that increase the oxygen level in her body, for instance, fatty fish, lemons, spinach, pomegranate, and antioxidant-rich foods such as cranberries, potatoes, nuts, dark chocolates, apples, beans, tomatoes, and broccoli.

2) Next, she can also take iron-rich foods, for instance, meat, fish, poultry, mulberries, and black olives, which will increase her blood's ability to absorb more oxygen.

3) She must exercise regularly to increase oxygen levels in her body. It can be as simple as a walk around the block for 30 minutes.

4) She should wear an oxygen mask at night while sleeping.

Try these four tips on your daughter for three weeks. At the end of every week, bring her here for a follow-up. Let us see what happens after three weeks.”

“Thank you, Dr. Kennedy,” said the parents.

“Thank you, Doc,” said Florence.

With a glow of new hope in their hearts, they reached home. The mother called Florence’s school to let them know that she would be absent from school for three weeks while the father went to the local bookstore to get the book authored by Dr. Kennedy.

Florence’s meals were based on the oxygen diet. Her mother made sure of that. Florence woke up at 7 am every morning to walk around the block for half an hour. And she put on an oxygen mask while sleeping at night.

At the end of the first week, the parents took Florence to Dr Kennedy. He could already detect positive changes in her. Florence was never short of breath the past week. And she never felt suffocated. He asked her to go through a few more tests and asked the parents to come again the next day.

The whole family prayed from the heart to God before falling asleep that night. The next day, Dr Kennedy had news for the family. Florence was improving. The cancer in her lungs showed reduced invasion. Dr Kennedy was hopeful that the oxygen therapy was working well for Florence.

At the end of the second week, Florence's lungs showed even more improvement. By the end of the third week, her cancer was cured. It was a miracle.

Still, as a precaution, Dr. Kennedy asked the family to return at the end of the fourth week. Florence showed no signs of cancer then. She could go to school, study, and be a regular girl once again. The parents and Florence thanked Dr. Kennedy warmly.

The parents hugged Florence, feeling relieved. They all had tears of joy in their eyes. Florence's battle with cancer ended once and for all. She could breathe and enjoy life just like before. She felt happy to go back to school, study, cover up her backlogs, and be promoted to grade 12. She thought of going to university after finishing High School. She could dream of her future again like a regular girl.

After all, she beat cancer and was a free girl- as free as a graceful white dove.
