What Are You Dreaming For?

Updated on January 21, 2017

What are you dreaming for?

Seems like there's always a slamming door

And if you aren't two steps ahead

Well, then, you might just fail the test

Struggle comes along and leaves its scars

It tries hard to change who you are

Life, it seems, just gets in the way

Until you are the mistakes you make

Ah, but just you wait

Sometimes those mistakes you make

Become stepping stones

To use until you find you've grown

Tall enough to see how far you've come

And all the things you can still become

Ready or not, here life comes once more

And that, my friend, is what you're dreaming for

      I say "BRING IT ON!"

Good to see you writing again....love the message!

Thanks, Bill! Bring it on indeed. That was a message to myself. LOL. Been trying to accomplish several things this past year and those damn hurdles won't stop popping up. So far, I'm determined to jump them all. Or at least knock them over when I trip and fall in my face. At least then I can get back up and still go forward. LOL

You write great poems...one right after the other. They're put together well, and they make sense. "Until you are the mistakes you make."....LOL that's terrific. I just hope you weren't referring to me! Guilty?? Who me?? That's the first person I thought of! Being terribly clumsy....I can attest to the fact that eventually the rumble of a body thumping down the stairs, becomes a theme song!!

I can just see you coming to a complete halt in the middle of chaos and tapping out a poem like a mad scientist...LOL Good job

OMG, Paula, don't fall.down the stairs. You'll break your pretty little neck! But if you want company, I am excellent at falling UP stairs and falling in general. What else to do, but laugh and whimper in pain? LOL. I know I look hilarious. Because I get laughed at. ;) Can't say much, though. I'm mean. I opened the truck door the other day. Didn't realize my daughter was leaning against it and out she tumbled. Landed on her back and butt on the ground. I laughed and wished I'd been recording it. She wasn't hurt and laughed too, but she still won't let me forget that I made her fall and laughed about it. You would have laughed, too; it was so unexpected and absurd.

But I wasn't talking about clumsiness, so, no, I was most definitely not referencing you! You and your strength. You are an amazing person in so many ways. An example of the overall message I attempted, actually. Strength and perseverance.

You're sort of correct about stopping to write something in the middle of chaos. LOL. It's not always the full finished product, though. Sometimes it's a text to myself so I don't forget if I don't have paper handy. And if I can't sleep until I write something down.

You're always so encouraging with your comments. Thank you!

      Shannon, I love your poetry

      What am I dreaming for?

It is the girl inside of me

Who dreams of things that can never be

For when that girl inside of me

Accepts that too much time has passed

To make those dreams come true at last

And realizes that her dream came true

While she was looking in the past.

whahoo!!! A great one from my friend. If we are wise, we see future as the prize. Not the focus and let it not lead us. But let us see others doing well, for that saves us from our hell.

You speak well of hope and I think that over about 4 years of friendship I trust you.

Profound poem. I can relate! If you don't want to make mistakes and grow, do nothing at all.

Hi Martie. Autocorrect insists that I call you Mattie. Just took about five tries to fix it and get it to stay that way. I think autocorrect has officially outgrown my welcome! LOL

      Anyway. . . .

Like a baby learning to walk, there are always mistakes, falling down, and continued occasional tripping for the rest of life. Plus, you have to crawl before you can walk. But if we don't try, we'll never learn to walk.

I love that poem, so true to life. I don't think I'll ever be tall enough. I dream of one day waking up, finding that I'm finally tall enough to see that life isn't so crappy after all.

It's really not so crappy after all. Crappy moments that sometimes seem to drag on and on perhaps, but it's a beautiful thing overall. Thanks for reading and commenti, bodylevive.
