We Can Go Back To Sleep
Shut Eye
We had to get up early for a doctors appointment
After going to bed as quick as possible last night
With just about four hours sleep
My eyes not open
I push myself to do a mechanical walk
Don't want to eat
Just want to sleep
My wife is better at this than me
She gets up first after the alarm goes off
I don't hear a thing
I lay in bed for at least five more minutes
Hoping she will forget all about me
I am invisible
Flashbacks of my childhood
When my mother would wake us for school in the morning
My brother and I weren't early risers
So my mother would give us ten more minutes to sleep
Even fifteen if she got busy trying to get breakfast ready
She was smart though
She woke us up earlier
Knowing we would beg to sleep a little longer
When she came in the second time
She made sure we got up
Come on now time to get up
We got our showers the night before and had all our clothes laid out
By the time our eyes were half open
My mother had breakfast on the table
Monday was oatmeal on toast
Tuesday eggs
Wednesday cereal
Thursday french toast
Friday cereal and sometimes a surprise
Scrambled eggs and bacon or pancakes
We always had juice and a one a day vitamin
Was sitting on our spoon
My mother wanted to help us get a good start for our day
Now I get up and reach for a box of cereal
We came from the doctors office
I told my wife I would go with her
I am so glad I went
My wife has to have another appointment with a different doctor
We wanted an early appointment
So if the doctor ran late
We wouldn't run late for work
Home at last
This time we have a whole hour and a half
Before we have to get up
It has been raining all morning
What a great time to sleep

Marlene B I feel my parents did the best they could. They tried to teach me right from wrong and to think for myself. The world is filled with love but some people rather bring out the aweful things in life instead. No matter what you have to find your course and you have the strength to help so many people along the way. Be yourself not what others want you to be. Then I add my own twist and try to become just a little bit happier in some part of my life. Each day no matter how difficult it may get on the outside in the inside I know I am good. Thank you for reading and giving at the same time.

Another fun poem. I like how your mother prepared a schedule for each morning's meal. That takes the stress off of her and gives you something to look forward to. What a great childhood you had. Happy Monday!

Tamara Yancosky Moore Rain and the sound of running water hypnotize my body into a wonderful, pleasurable, peaceful state. When I get a shower I have to force myself out. It feels so good I never want to leave. I feel like I am sleeping standing up. Thank you for reading and sharing. Have a beautiful afternoon.

I like to sleep with the front door open, or a window open, where I can hear the rain. Just thinking about it, makes me want to imagine that it is raining, and drift off too sleep....zzzz :-)

Rainy days are the best to lay back and daydream and drift like on a lazy river.

Manatita44 Parts of my childhood resurface after all these years. Thank you for reading and sharing. Even though I struggle day to day with finding ways to make everything work. I keep trying to find new creative ways to turn
my life into a game. Have a great day.
