Vespertine Dreams

Updated on April 1, 2017

The sun is descending
And the world is frozen for a moment
I’m the shrapnel of my comet
paused in minuscule motion
I lie in bed, dreaming
Golden dust streaming
from my serene fingertips
Grace my eyes
Fill my heart
I will trace the shape of you
with brilliant focus
A sunset in our names
We are floating in mid air
Our bodies in barycentric orbit
You mirror my smile
as I outline your lips with a few stars
I’m already missing your laugh
But it’s fallen dark outside
And the moment’s passed
I’m the shrapnel of my comet
Now hurtling to nowhere

What great lines in this poem. Very memorable. Jamie
