I have always had a fixation with water and my pieces always reflect what I think water symbolizes for certain people of the world.
She approaches an island far off the mainlands shoreline, the clicks of dolphins echoing through the sky.
Feet moving so fast they looked like a rainbow of lights, she ran. Even as her lungs ran ragged and her mouth dried, as her forehead beaded with sweat and continuing was nearly impossible, she ran.
From what, some ask.
And as tears flee her face, falling like tiny opal crystals from her storm blue eyes, she finds the pool she had been in when she wrapped her pale, shaky hands around her little brothers olive tinted neck.
As the darkness engulfs her, she is granted her final reprieve.
The waves wash over her, enticing her skin with its bursts of cold and soothing heat. A job done through and through.
A job well done.
