There's a New Day Dawning: an Inspirational Poem

Updated on February 3, 2017
Jodah profile image

John has been writing poetry since his school days. He was awarded "Poet of the Year 2014" Hubby Awards and has had two poems become songs.

There's a New Day Dawning

There's a new day dawning

And it's not that far away.

So prepare yourself to start afresh

And throw the old away.

Focus on the road ahead,

Don't waste time looking back.

The past is gone and won't return

So keep your dreams on track.

Source

Set your goals and go for them

Think positive, be confident,

Cut pessimism's ties.

Be an optimist in all you do,

Because everybody dies.

Set your goals and go for them,

Reach out to the stars.

Persist in seeking what you want,

Don't be imprisoned by life's bars.

Love your family
Love your family | Source

Don't stress the things that don't go right

Love your family and your friends.

Tell them every day.

Don't stress the things that don't go right,

Just try a different way.

Today will soon be yesterday

Before you blink an eye.

Tomorrow will become today

As time on this Earth flies.

So don't sit back and waste the hours,

Procrastinators suck!

Grasp each day firmly by the neck

And make your own good luck.

What can I say, Audrey? I am sorry to hear about your sister's struggle with dimentia and how that is affecting your life. If my words have managed to help or provide answers in any way I am honoured and touched. I feel we are often led to read the words we need at the right time. You do not have to thank me, just stay strong and positive and my prayers will be with you. Hugs.

Every single line brings a powerful and essential message. Without going into detail, my life has been turned upside-down as I try to adjust to the huge change in my sister's personality due to dementia. Last night I prayed for guidance. This morning I found your poem filled with answers I asked for.

How do I thank you for filling my heart and head with new determination? "Don't be imprisoned by life's bars." These words are a revelation to me at this time.

You've made a hugs difference in the life of one person. Me!

I really liked this poem, Jodah. I read it at an opportune time because in recent years I've been reflecting on how important it is to seize the day and not waste time reminiscing on what should have been or could have been. It's also so important to appreciate our family and friends and let them know how much we love them because we never know how much more time we have with them.

Uplifting soul and spirit. A prophetic proclamation John coming from the deepest desire for a new everyday, better and higher until all we experience gradually increasing contentment on this earthly journey, leading gloriously toward an end where the New Day will begin only to continue forever.

        Blessed day.

Hi Missy, at times I have been accused of procrastinating myself. When certain things appear to hard it is easier to immerse yourself in more pleasant or easier activities. I need a prompt to get out of that now and then. It is difficult with kids, and especially as a single mother so I know where you are coming from. One of my excuses for not doing certain things like travel, was "We'll wait until the kids are older, or leave home etc." then other things happen that prevent you doing it. We are determined to be more proactive this year and do a lot of things we have been putting off. Yes, you have to have faith, and motivation. I hope this poem helped.

This is a very nice poem to drive us all into this new year. I always hated to procrastinate, so I somewhat agree with that exclamation that those types suck. However, lately I find myself doing just that when it comes to certain things in my life. Not because I want to put things off; It seems I am finding it hard to grasp time to do everything. My things come last. I'm alright with that, I know my children will only be children for just a little while.

Your poems are always good to give a push to guide people out of slumps they may be in. I got to hang onto Faith!! Thanks Jodah!
