The Wonder of Love
It’s not the stars above
or the kisses shared.
It’s the trust and the feeling in one’s heart -
that is the wonder of love.
If love isn’t true,
no candlelit nights
or champagne,
can make it sparkle.
It’s not the stories
that are told
or the passions shared.
It’s the friendship and closeness,
between two people -
that is the wonder of love.
It’s not the love songs,
sung so beautifully,
the words will be meaningless,
unless your love is true.
It’s the hand holding
and the companionable silences,
the warm embraces,
dancing in the moonlight -
that is the wonder of love.
Walks in the rain,
beneath the stars,
when they are shining bright.
Through all the seasons,
as they come and go,
love to guide us,
day in and day out.
Sharing the sunrises
and the sunsets,
rejoicing together,
loving one another –
that is the wonder of love.
It’s not the grand old stories
that tell of past lovers
and praise their glories.
It’s being able,
to look into each other’s eyes
and share glad smiles -
that is the wonder of love.
Words from love poems,
straight from the heart,
that bring such warmth,
with eye shining full of love
and genuine bright smiles.
It’s walking through this life
and sharing the good and bad times,
through all the tears,
through all the years,
caring for each other -
that is the wonder of love.

This did feel like a dance melody. Just add some notes and dance along while it plays on the Victrola. :)
Such a sweet poem. Loved it completely; especially the warm feelings of true love you portray and brought.
