The Little Flower Girl
Once upon a time,
there was a little girl.
Tiny as a thumb,
and fair as pearl.
Not really human,
nor ghostly scary,
the young girl was truly
a little fairy.
She rejoiced in the sun,
lived on a flower.
Danced happily with wings ,
In the rainy shower.
Under the blue, wide sky,
upright she stood.
‘Flower’ was her house,
honey was her food.
The big, bright sunflower,
Looking at the sun,
was the home of the girl
where she stayed with fun.
She sat on the flower,
danced on the petals.
Played on the leaves,
slept on the sepals.
The sunflower gave her
love so sweet.
From the sunflower –honey
she herself did treat.
Free was her soul
like a peaceful dove .
Immersed was the angel
in the sunflower’s love.
But one peculiar nature
the sunflower had,
which was loathed by the girl,
considered BAD.
Whenever the girl tried
to talk to other girls.
The sunflower got angry
it’s petal curls.
Many little birds
wanted to sing to her.
But the sunflower would shoo them
with its petal fur.
For the sunflower’s policy
Of ‘ Friendship Restricted’.
The little flower girl
stayed isolated.
For the little girl’s happiness
sunflower did’nt care a bit.
It only wanted the girl
To spend time with it.
For the loving sunflower’s
‘stubborness.’
The sunflower’s incessant love
went in mess.
But to know the world
the girl was really curious.
So one day she became
very furious.
In a far-away land,
She could see.
There was a bright Red Rose
where she could be.
So she flapped her wings,
opened her heart to see.
From the sunflower finally
she set herself free.
Away from the sunflower,
she went away,
and sat on the rose
which was loving and gay.
The red rose gave her
all that she wanted.
Along with loads of love,
freedom was granted.
Now she danced with the birds,
in joy she blends.
With other little angels
she made new friends.
In happiness and love
the little girl froze.
Happily ever after,
she stayed with the rose.

Debangee, I really enjoyed your poem and it's great insight about the destructive effect of possessiveness in relationships. As parents we need to be careful of not being too possessive with our children or in any other relationship as well. A very profound poem! Thank you.

This was so emotional and reflective of a "real" flower girl, who was truly held as a prisoner until she broke her bonds and followed her dreams. Thank you for sharing this poignant story, my friend. Many blessings. whonu
