The Highest Degree
Challenges of life, those that seem to linger,
Always to be as close as our own little finger.
Yet, so far away, beyond an attempt to grasp,
Sometimes seem impossible, of our last gasp.
We all may gaze at the sky on a starry night,
Looking at a distant meteor, on its fiery flight.
In our minds, we may then to reach and hold,
Capture the object in our hand, there so bold.
When but a child we each play, have dreams,
Not knowing what to take as real or imaginary.
As we grow older, new goals appear, it seems,
Attaining some, though a majority, fragmentary.
Only as an adult, we see the need to progress,
Although many had rather to tarry, I do confess.
This a time for aiming, making plans to improve,
A definite picture of our next step, it to behoove.
My highest degree was now on my mind,
Then it was at hand, and only I could see.
I could not fathom it all, to be maintained,
That my finest goal, this for the life of me.
Was then I remembered, to trust in my faith,
And as I went on ahead to do my very best.
Working so hard, while each sharply focuses,
Our spirits we hold inside, to handle the rest.

Well said, my friend. We have the power within us to determine what we get out of life and what we give.
