The Glitter of the Sea

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia with my hubby, Martin and cat Sid.

There’s nothing like the beauty,

of the glittering sea.

Watching the white foamy waves,

lapping at the seashore

Leaving bare footprints,

upon the wet sand.

Picking up seashells,

listening to the music of the sea.

There’s nothing so lovely -

as a seashore,

drenched in pure sunlight,

while the sea glitters and shines.

While you and I,

walk through the rushing waves,

writing love letters upon the sand,

that just as quickly disappear into the sea.

Dreaming of sand castles,

that as children we’d build.

Remembering the days,

of innocent and carefree smiles.

There upon the sand,

we’d have picnics,

wondering about foreign lands,

there across the shimmering sea.

Walking along the seashore,

while up above the azure sky is so bright

and seagulls cry as they fly by.

Wondering what it would be like,

sailing upon the sea.

Just you and I

and a boat full of love dancing upon the waves.

In the purple twilight,

the waves swirling about.

Comes the night

and the moon creates a silver bridge,

across the sea.

There we would be,

by a bonfire sending bright embers,

up into the night sky,

while moonbeams shine upon us.

There’s nothing so wonderful,

as listening to the gentle lapping of waves,

against the shore.

Waiting for the dawn,

to see the sun seemingly –

popping out of the sea.

I love to see the sunrise from the seashore, it is so beautiful and mesmerizing. You have painted a pretty picture with your words. Enjoyed reading.

This reminds me of Dan Fogelberg's song "The Reach." Give it a listen and you'll see why I say that.

Hi Rasma. Another beautiful poem, as is your tribute to the late great Leonard. Well done.

I love the colors and illusions the sun and moon create on the ocean. My favorite line in this is "and the moon creates a silver bridge". That struck me as quite profound.
