The Girl Who Deserved More And The Girl Who Got It

Updated on January 7, 2017

The Answer is in the Silence

You don't have to tell me what he said, because I already know.

You don't have to tell me what he did because I already know.

You don't have to tell me what it was like when he tucked your hair behind you ear.

You don't have to tell me about the whole world pausing when he smiled.

You don't have to tell me about his voice being your morning song, and you certainly don't have to tell me about his voice when it was actually in song.

You don't have to tell me about his eyes becoming your favorite color.

You don't have to tell me about the way his skin felt against yours.

You don't have to tell me anything because I already know.

I know what it's like to hear him asking you to stay.

I know what it's like to feel his hand around yours.

I know what it's like for his smile to brush against the crevices in your neck.

I know what it's like for him to change his mind.

I've lived through every encounter you could have with him, and I can tell you that no matter what happened, you are not defined by not being enough for someone who always just wants more.

You are not measured by the number of times he called you pretty.

You are not calculated by his incapability of love.

You are not evaluated by the amount of time he spent on you.

You are not assessed based on his point of view.

I could never hate you for what he did to you, when it was the same thing to me.

Wow, this is wonderfully penned. I love the point of view you express..from one jilted lover to another.
