A long time ago there lived a bright and shining Sun, which provided life for all the plants and animals alike. The Sun was a very jolly and energetic sole, always shining brightly down upon his plant and animal friends.
Until one day, some dark storm clouds approached with a dastardly plan. They surrounded the Sun and started to poke fun of him.
“Ha, ha, ha, look at the Sun, he’s all alone.” The Black cloud said smiling an evil grin.
“Yes, ha, ha, ha, unlike his plant and animal friends, he’s the only one of his kind!” The Gray cloud said in a wicked tone.
“He’s a loner!” The small Dark-Gray cloud mocked.
“Yes, you’re a loner!” All shouting as they teased in agreement.
Knowing what the mean clouds were saying was true, the Sun became very sad.
“I am the only one of my kind…” The Sun thought to himself and he sighed. “Sigh.”
Mean old storm clouds picking on poor Mr. Sun
Seeing that the Sun was saddened by what they had said, the mean clouds realized that their plan had worked. The once bright and energetic Sun was now beginning to dim and loose his energy. This gave the clouds a chance to totally darken the sky and to bring their wicked rains. The clouds started to roar and rumble causing the animals below to become frightened. Scared of the loud crashes and rains, the animals ran to take cover in their dens. For many weeks, darkness dominated the skies.
Dark Stormy Skies
Until one day the Sun saw a strange sight. It was a round object, and it was coming towards him. Thinking out loud the Sun said, “I wonder what that round object is? It looks as big as me.”
As the object approached, the Sun could see that this was not just some object, but it was a strange being.
“Who could this odd little fellow be? He looks quite sad and gray.”
Moving along the strange being notices the Sun smiling in the distance, and decided to go talk to him. He rushed over to the Sun, and stopped when they are face to face.
“Hello.” The Sun said with glee. “Who are you strange fellow, and why are you so sad and gray?”
“I am the Moon, and I’m sad and gray because I am the only one of my kind.
Hearing this the Sun said, “I understand your sorrow. I too am the only one of my kind. But now that we have met we don’t have to be sad any more. Since the both of us are the only ones of our kind; that makes us the same.”
“Yes.” The moon agreed and smiled. “We are alike, and from now on you will be known to me as my dearest friend and sky brother.”
The Sun smiled and said, “Yes, we will be as brothers, and at night you will light the skies, and in the morning I will.”
Mr. Sun & Mr. Moon meeting
With that said the Sun and the Moon became very happy and started to shine very brightly, brighter than they ever had before. They shined so bright that it drove the mean clouds away. With the clouds now gone, the animals could now come out from their dens. As the animals looked around they saw an odd sight. The sun appeared to be black, but still very bright.
“It was a pleasure to meet you Mr. Sun.” The Moon said. “But I must be going now. Do not fear however, I will come and visit again for a face to face talk.”
“Bye Mr. Moon, shine brightly and be well.”
With that the Moon slowly began to move away from the Sun sinking into the horizon. As the Moon left, the plants and animals saw that the sun was not black at all, but had just been hidden by the strange being.
Smiling down at his friends the Sun gives a wink. “Hello, my friends.”
Scratching their heads the animals and plants ask the Sun, “Who was that odd being?”
The Sun smiled and said, “He is the Moon, my friend and brother of the sky.”
Starring in awe, the plants and animals then said, “The Moon?, Sky brother?, How?, When?, Tell us please!”
The Sun smiled and laughed, “Ha, Ha, Ha, sit down my friends for it is a long story.”
Sunny days, all the animals and plants are back!
