Steal or Borrow (by GalaxyRat)

GalaxyRat is fond of rats and writing. And dark poetry. She knows that people don't like all these things together... but who cares?

There is never enough food for all the hungry mouths

in this small, banged up town.

We can choose to steal or borrow,

will we do it today or tomorrow?

It fights in your mind against the hunger for the first few days,

when you beg the Lord your soul to take.

If you die and there's still food

You'll be doing the town good.

Less mouths to feed and less complaints and muttering

yet much more suffering.

We launch like angry wolves when we do get

food, and then we rip

it like wild animals.

It won't be long til we are cannibals.

Will we steal or borrow

today or tomorrow?

Your morals hold strong

as you hold on.

But hunger causes even the purest hearts to turn,

and one day they will learn.

Please ignore my first comment...don't know what happened. I must have been reading two hubs at once and got the comment mixed up.

It's sad to think about victims of famine and what they go through as well as the everyday hunger of one I six Americans. Your poem shows empathy.

Great picture! Also, very wise poem with words of truth.

Sometimes hunger, and other things, such as exhaustion, freezing temperatures, being incessantly provoked, seeing a loved one suffer, having too many things happen all at one time, being thirsty, being in pain, and more, can make people do things that they would not normally do. Hunger is definitely a big one.

It's fearful what the body can feel when it does not get the necessary requirements of daily living. I still feel helpless in a world of so much suffering. But, I do pray.

Very thought-provoking poem! Thank you, Galaxy!

      Cheers,

      Tamara

Wow, this was great GalaxyRat. Unless you actually found yourself in such a situation you can't say for sure what you'd do to survive. Makes one think. Love that image too.

Love your poem Galaxy ! You have touched on a true subject of hunger that effects all humans global. The earth has enough land and resources to feed every human comfortably but greed and injustice has not permited what the earth can give under the wrong humans in charge.

Soon relief from all abuse will end Galaxy.

Soon Jesus will take full charge.

Thank you Galaxy its a wonderful poem of truth felt global on earth.

This is like one hole in the bucket as there are so many other holes man can not fix nor will he be able. Based on hunans have caused these holes and continue to create more forthemselfs.

The only cure is to replace the bucket with a new one as written at 2 Peter 3:13 'A new a heavens and a new earth' for new citizens

Who want a happy and peaceful life here. Greed and the selfish love of money will not exist just hard work and relief from all the things that make us unhappy.

We all have seen one side of life when anything can go bad.

But soon we will also see the good under Jesus turn of rulership.

Satan days is about to end the reason he is causing the bad events.

Thanks again I love your work .

Please keep it going it inspires me Galaxy.
