Speaking Bullets

Although it is difficult to dub myself "poet," I only know that I love to create poetry.

People talk with guns

with bullets where the words should be

Popping off shots

no feelings just glocks

We don’t open up inside

just…open fire

There’s no mutual understanding

can’t take it back

wounded beyond comprehending

left without mending

There’s a simplicity in guns

one choice all done

it doesn’t take a heart soul mind or strength

not a courage or a namesake

It’s nothing but a cop-out move

a sidestep

a stacked game so the other will always lose

Hold tight to your gun

it’s what protects you

saves you

keeps the world all afraid of you

Don’t speak to heal

just shoot to kill

eliminate the enemy

no question of identity

That’s what you do to survive

Poignant poem portraying the tragedy of people talking with guns. Well written. Love these lines:

      'one choice all done

it doesn’t take a heart soul mind or strength

not a courage or a namesake

      It’s nothing but a cop-out move

      a sidestep

a stacked game so the other will always lose'
