Souvenirs Of Love

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

So many reminders of you,

everywhere I look,

you went away

and took a piece of my heart.

So many reminders of you,

the scent of your cologne,

little knick knacks here and there -

wondering if you’re coming back.

So many reminders of you,

each and every day,

wanting to find a way,

to have you loving only me.

Longing to hold you again,

longing to see your smile,

thought I saw you in the crowd -

passing me by.

Made me wonder why,

you said we’d meet again,

promises made in moments of passion.

Was our love real?

Are my memories just dreams

or solid things?

Nights long and lonely,

thoughts come and go,

I keep listening for your voice -

your steps coming through the door.

So many reminders of you,

no one can tell me -

that true love can end,

in but a moment.

The last roses,

you gave me,

still stand in the vase,

now wilted –

but just the same –

their scent is still in the air.

For love never dies,

it can change and rearrange your life,

but if the spark was ever there –

it can surely reignite.

Just like a theater play,

after the final curtain comes down,

the show will go on again.

True love is enduring and real,

if your heart beats for me,

as mine does for you,

I know that love will return -

we’ll be together forevermore.
