Wrong Number: a Love Story

The cellphone rings. It's 12 O'Clock at night. Jay has sent a message, " Happy marriage anniversary, my love, can't wait to see you tomorrow." Anita reads the message. Tomorrow is their third marriage anniversary. Anita replies back, "To you too, dear. Waiting for you eagerly." Then one another message, "When will he return, love?" Anita replies, "Tomorrow."

They were introduced through a mutual friend. And after that, it didn't take longer to tie the knot. In Jay, she found her soulmate. She could talk for eternity and he would listen.

They had a blissful married life, and was planning for baby too. Anita was happy, she couldn't want more.

That day Anita got the new number for her work. And there was the message, "Traffic is terrible, I will be late my love." It was a wrong number. She replied, "Sorry, you have the wrong number." After sometime the person replied back, "I am extremely sorry, pardon me."

That should be the end of their conversation. But somehow it wasn't.

They chat through messages. Jon is a good listener. It's been only three weeks. But it feels like they know each other for a long time. Jon is married too. They talk about many things, it seems they could chat for eternity. But she hasn't told Jon her real name till now. Anita is happy with Jay, it's just that, the spark has faded away a little bit. She misses her old Jay.

Jay's flight is late. He promised her a dinner tonight. Anita is dressed up and waiting for him. The phone rings. It must be Jay, Anita goes to pick up the call. But the call ends suddenly. It was Jon. Should she call him back? Anita calls back Jon. And there is Jay suddenly, standing right in front of her, she stands still with phone on her hand. Jay's phone is ringing. Jay embarrassingly cuts the call. Anita's phone redials Jon's number automatically. Jay's phone rings again. This time he receives and says "Hello!"

"Happy anniversary, Jon." Jay looks at Anita and says " Happy anniversary, Angela."
