I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.
Somewhere far off,
in a long forgotten tower,
a bell rings mournfully -
bringing to mind an image of you.
Like swirling leaves blown by the wind,
all that disappears into the night,
but the warmth that fills my heart -
reminds me of when your cheek was next to mine.
The wind blowing through our hair,
as we danced upon the shore,
the world was ours,
when we were together and in love.
Your lips are now cold and silent,
but once they were so very warm,
whispering words of love -
I remember the tender kisses we often shared.
Now that I remember,
I can feel your hand reaching for mine,
I gaze at the shimmering stars above
and see your sparkling eyes.
A warm golden shower,
radiates about me
and I feel your closeness,
as it envelopes me.
From up above a light shines
and warms my very soul,
I know it’s your love -
that radiates from above.

Thank you Thelma. The photo is of me and my husband on a trip to the U.S. in 1998. He passed away this year on August 17. I wrote about this on myLot.
Thank you Demas. Unfortunately I am writing from my very soul but not a penny I make.

Your poem moved me once again. What a lovely picture of you two. I have been to Salem Mass. and I picture you both sitting on the grass in Salem Willows watching other people walking by and who knows I could of seen you. Laughing and joking and doing what lovers do. Thank you for sharing.

Bittersweet indeed. I'm sorry for your sadness and loss.
Shannon Henry from Texas on September 03, 2017:
This was so unexpected. I was prepared to read a wistful love poem full of the romance I have come to associate with you. This one is very romantic as well, but so obviously personal and it stunned me. Beyond that, I have no words. Just a virtual hug.
Demas W Jasper from Today's America and The World Beyond on September 03, 2017:
Love always creates memories of deep feelings. Love abandoned or interrupted tragically does also. Memorialize the feelings that remain treasured pain free and being built upon. XXOO

Oh my God, Gypsy.....This one has touched my heart so deeply.....yet it has also grabbed me by the throat and filled my eyes with tears.
The poem itself is stunningly bittersweet & with the amazing Roy Orbison's haunting song, I am reduced to a sobbing willow. I am holding your hand with understanding..........Paula
