Remember to Keep Smiling

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

remember-to-keep-smiling

A smile is like a ray of sun,

after a rainy day.

Like a flower,

when it bursts into bloom,

dancing in the summer breeze.

Even if tears threaten to fall,

somewhere up above,

is a cloud with a silver lining.

A smile will shelter you,

from unhappiness

and keep your heart from breaking.

It means so much more,

than all the gold on earth.

Just one smile so very bright,

can light up hundreds of others,

that respond in kind -

like candle flames flickering

When you feel that things,

have gone astray,

just think of happier times

and light up your face -

with a glowing smile.

It will chase away,

the rain when it starts to fall,

make you content to daydream -

until a rainbow stretches across the sky.

Smile and the world will smile with you,

too much sorrow,

too much heartbreak,

so smile and you’ll see,

that there will be -

a brighter tomorrow following yesterday.

Thank you Peg. That photo I was lucky to find but I have also had the chance to take wonderful photos of the sun shining from the sky or through trees. Smiling is a great way to get through life.

What a wonderful way to look at things and the photo is truly spectacular. Love the poetry.

That is the best way to be otherwise most of the time you're miserable Bill. No matter what there have to be smiles.

Thank you ThreeKeys.

That sure is true Michael.

You welcome Whonu and blessings to you too.

You're right Israel.

Thank you Diana.

A mentor of mine told me eleven years ago I can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable. It was a revelation to me, really! I've tried to remember that through thick and thin. :)

Beautiful and warmly encouraging. A smile is catchy; and the turning of a stranger into a friend. Lovely...

Undoubtedly a happy heart keeps discrete smile upon our face. As we share that smile a troubled world around us-is becoming- smiling.

Thank you for this supportive and bright spot on a gloomy day in our country. Blessings. whonu

Yes I agree, smiles are contagious and when you smile for yourself you help others see the smile within themselves.

Diana L Pierce from Potter County, Pa. on September 25, 2017:

It's beautiful. The images are also. The world needs far more beautiful thoughts.
